ABOUT THIS TRACK

What is this track about?

In this track, you can expect to learn the very basics and essentials of mdeling in Rhinoceros 3D a commonly user
software in professional practice.

Rhino 3D uses (NURBS) as a method of modeling (Non-uniform rational basis spline.) A mathematical model
commonly used to represent curves and surfaces. Essentially, NURBS are mathematical models commonly
utilized within the 3D environment for creating and defining curves and surfaces offering flexibility and precision for
handling both analytic and modeled shapes.

For this reason, Rhino 3D can be wildly different from other 3D modeling programs. Specifically, programs that use
Polygon Modelling methods. Which are just as common (Ex. Solidworks). Neither is better than the other, they are
used according to need. NURBS tend to be better for free-flowing organic forms. Using NURBS, physically
impossible shapes can be created. Whereas, Polygonal can be better for more practical forms used in
manufacturing applications.

Why is this important?

Modeling with NURBS will call upon different actions and methods when modeling using a slightly different
nomenclature than polygon modeling programs. Building with NURBS for the first time will require you to learn new
terms and methods of constructing in the 3D environment.

The one thing to be wary of before we begin is that the Rhino interface will look very different on a mac as
opposed to a PC. However, the difference is not drastic enough that it will hinder your learning experience. Most
buttons, bells, and whistles will translate fairly smoothly between the two operating systems.

If at any time you are stuck at a portion, leave a comment on the instructional video and/or blog and it is safe to
say most creators will get back to you quickly in hopes of better marketing their content.

What are you going to learn?

In this track you can expect to learn:

1. The differences between NURBS and Polygon Modeling methods.

2. How to start a new model in Rhino.

3. How to Navigate the user interface.

4. The basics of creating and drawing lines.

5. How to correctly and efficiently use the layers panel.

6. And much much more! Everything up to creating a polished NURBS model!

Who is this track for?

1. Beginners using 3D software or NURBS software specifically.

2. Students and working professionals looking to expand their 3D modeling knowledge.

3. Individuals looking to refine their skills in Rhino and learn other ways to perform the same action.
