Historical Background

Carmona, used to be a barrio of mission Town of Silang. It was then known as

“Latag” or plain in Tagalog due to the numerous hills and plains in the area. Barrio

Latag eventually became an independent municipality on February 20, 1857 by virtue

of royal decree issued by the king of spain. The name Carmona was adopted as sign

of gratitude to the Spanish official who influenced the Central Government in seeking

its religious and political emancipation.

When Carmomna became an independent municipality, Maduya is one of its

barrios. This place was covered by thick bushes, lush trees and inhabited by only five

(5) household consisting of twelve (12) families mostly farm workers. The southern

12
part of Maduya was formely part of he vast Yaptinchay Estate in the nearby town of

Biñan, Laguna which become part of Maduya after World War 2.

According to the original settlers, the name Maduya originated from the word

“MARUYA” which was a sweet delicacy, compose of ripe banana of “saba” type. It

was laced with ripe jack fruit and rolled in sugar.

Maduya has three (03) economic zones which are Golden Miles Business

Parks, Peoples Technology Complex and Paseo de Carmona. This economic zones are

Carmona. Brgy. Maduya's only source of income was the IRA Share and its share

from RPT and the minimal payment of store owners. At the beginning of CY 2020,

business tax formerly paid to Barangay was directly paid to the municipality of

Carmona. At present Maduya has an annual budget of more than P14 million where

monthlyy salaries of its employees were taken.

Day 1 (11 November 2019)

Day 1 (20 January 2020)

This morning is special for me because this day is our first day of work

Immersion in the first place, I was a bit excited because finally, we're going to be

deployed in our work Immersion especially when I hear that I will be deployed in

Brgy hall may Carmona Cavite. I felt so lucky because my work Immersion venue is

near to our house however I also felt sad because of course as a senior high student I

will be missing some. Activities and events in our school because of this work

immersion anyway it's ok since this work immersion will help me to develop my

3
skills and also my personality that definitely I can be used in the near future. While we

were in the van I felt mix emotion I am a bit nervous and excited about what will

happen in my first day of work Immersion

Then when we've arrived in a big hall all the stuff greet us like we were a special

guest but Suddenly, I shock because some people here are familiar to me. When we

were inside of the Brgy. Ms. Magallon and ms.Soliven our advisory teacher talk to the

admin of Brgy for us to be recognized as a senior high student taking a work

immersion after that our advisory teachers left us with a trust and a big smile

When we start working I didn't expect that in my first day, they will immediately

assign me on encoding task as a revenue collector and in my first try I thought that

this task would be easy for me because I already have a background on what am I

going to do however, everything that my mind expects is wrong the result is i am

like illiterate child who just only typing and encoding all the information even though

I don't know if it is right or wrong Working in the real field is like being an ignorant

child, you have to adjust to the surrounding, the people around you and everything.

In the afternoon I was thinking that we are so lucky in that day because imagine

our first day in work immerssion is the birthday of Kap for short Mr. Redento Rosas

the captain in barangay of course they invite us to celebrate after that. Ms. Santillan

our advisory assistant in work immersion instruct me on how am I going to easily

encode all the necessary information for formal papers like Barangay clearance,

Calamity loan, Business Permit that usually get by the client's . While she's teaching

me how to evaluate the papers before we give it to the client's, i realize that in this

work mistake must not be present because it is so formal that even one letter mistake

can make a huge problem to the client's so we must be observant as usual I felt

24
pressure b I am looking forward to have a well performance towards the brgy hall that

I was designated.

January 21, 2020

Day 2 (21 January 2020)

This is the second day of my work immersion program experience as a

revenue collector trainee, on this day, after we met our supervisor today Mrs. Luisa

she was assigned me first to the collecting information. It was nice but difficult as a

collector of personal information it was hard for me to interview many people because

some of them are rugged and shy type so as a collector we must be talkative as we

interview all the client’s. Afterwards, the they assigned me again in the encoding.

All the information I’ve got, I list the names of the clients. After that I assist them for

getting their paper for signing to finish all the papers they need. After accomplishing

my duty in encoding , Mrs. Marnellie Guinto our second supervisor assigned me to

teach and to help my co-students Juvie and Julius how to interview clients how will

they greet and how they will encode all the personal information. During my time on

the afternoonn, no more upcoming duties are followed thus, I help the care taker of

brgy to clean some dishes and some part of the venue.

January 22, 2020

Day 3 (22 January 2020)

As the 3rd day of work immersion program started, I arrived at school earlier at

7:20 am and waited a few minutes for my co- student trainee to arrive before we in to

our workplace at 7:40, in senior high we were entering to the school 6:20 because the

3
classes starts exacly at 7:00 am while here in barangay our schedule in the morning is

8:00 am. Today, we didn’t know when and where we’re gonna be start in our duty

again until suddenly came up to my mind why don’t we make a committee where in

per day there is a specific person that will assign in a specific task then after that event

i was assigned every Monday and Thursday on encoding while in Tuesday,

Wednesday and Friday my task is on interview the clients. Today is Thursday so my

task today is to interview the client’s,

Inside the office, the teacher gave a simple work to my co-student trainee in

which she encode the list of foods from the canteen. Then I decided to help her.

Afterwards, no duties or work has been followed.

November 14 2019

Day 4

This is my fourth day in the deped district , I came in the deped district at

exact time my duty start at 8:00 so I came before the time start . When I went to the

deped office my partner and I cleaned the office because a visitor is coming After that

mam france was assigned me and my partner , me as a telephone responder and as I

waited for incoming calls , and my partner assigned to laminate those picture , while

no one is calling i helped my partner to laminate the teachers pictures , after lunch we

continued what we were doing , the picture that we laminate earlier need to be

wrapped and I assign to wrapped those pictures in Styrofoam for the organizational

chart , when we had finished all the task we had . my partner and I had to rest before

heading home .

26
I’m happy today even though it is tiring because I have helped other people . I

learned that helping people is important because if you help someone in need they

feel the need to help another . Another thing is I learned to be patient in every time I

do some task because you need it to do happy the work that given to you and quickly

done it .

November 15 2019

Day 5

I am very tired now . I also learned that we must learn to cleanse our

environment because cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a

healthy environment .

Significant Experiences

I felt excited when I already know that I was assigned in Barangay hall

especially Barangay Hall in Maduya and knowing that I was assigned with my

teachers , I think thiswork immersion will give me lessons .I was also nervous at the

same time but during the annual deployment I feel relieve and it doesn’t matter

anymore that I was designated in Barangay and it’s good for me that I wasn’t the only

one who assigned in school so it’s totally fine now. When we arrived at the

workplace I already knew that it was challenging for us to take along with the clients

and different types of people and I was worried on how will they treat us. I know to

myself that I need to settle down for a long period of my patience, caring and

understanding because in the first place I’m not into intect to many people but when I

do my first task I think that being a public servant is not easy and I realize that

understanding and patience is important in dealing with the clients because as a revue

collecter encoding all the personal information you must be carefull on any private

detail and also you must possess some important traits like being observer .I took this

experience as an opportunity for me because this immerssion boost my self-

confidence when it comes in talking and interacting to many people I gain confidence

to stand in front of many to share my knowledge, to teach and to help t. As a student I

also gain benefits from the work immersion like enhanced communication skills, and

human relation. I’m very thankful to my supervisor, the guidance counselor for

guiding us during the 10 days of work immersion.

Activity Four
OVERALL REFLECTION AND SELF-APPRAISAL

Problems Encountered and Solutions Applied by the Trainee

According to Yeasmin (2018), Internship challenges do hit hard because it is

the first time you are in such an environment and aren’t very familiar with work-life

issues. there are slight chances that you will escape each one of the internship

challenges faced by interns. The good thing is that if you are already aware of these

challenges, you can handle them better instead of letting it ruin your internship. The

common problems encountered by the trainees are Unnoticed work, issues with time

management, hesitant to ask questions and overwhelmed with work. (See table 2.)

Problems Encountered Solutions Applied

1. Putting to much pressure to my self Being calm, take control on work

load and self-management

2. Difficult to ask questions for the fear of Being calm and concentrate on the
