Befor e installing or oper ating actuator , please car efully r ead this manual to know
thor oughly how to install or oper ate.
T he contents in this manual is subj ect to change due to the quality impr ovement
without individual notice.
1. Check points befor e using actuator
1) Mechanical
* Check ex ter nal : Check if dr ive bushing, painting, handle and lever ar e O.K or not.
* Compar e specification : Compar e if specification of the deliver ed actuator is
suitable for your specification of application
* Check options : Check if all options ar e cor r ect or not

2) Electr ical
* Check if electr ical specification is cor r ect or not
(wir ing diagr am inside of actuator , name plate).
* Check if the electr ical power is cor r ect or not.

3) Other checking points


Check if instr uction manual, test r epor t(War r anty paper s) and electr ical wir ing
diagr am ar e supplied or not.

3) Featur es and str uctur e

(1) Gener al :
HQ ser ies actuator is designed for the 90 degr ee tur n application such as
damper , ball, plug, butter fly valve and other equipment
(2) Range of tor que
Min. 80Nm to Max 3000Nm. In between ther e ar e 9 models and cater for var ious
tor que depending on application.
Models ar e HQ- 008, 015, 020, 030, 050, 080, 120, 200 and 300.
Applicable size of valve
Butter fly valve : 50mm(2 ") ~ 600mm(24")
Ball valve : 40mm(1 1/2 ") ~ 3 50mm(16")
(3) Body
Mater ial is har d- anodized AL alloy and ex ter nal coating of epox y powder
is suitable for the sever e condition especially against the cor r osion.
Housing is designed in accor dance with standar d of ex - pr oof and IP68 .
(4) Sealing
Sealing c ar r ied out by the O- r ings guar anties IP68.(10m under water 10days)
(5) Manual Over r ide
Just by pulling over the lever , oper ating mode is switched to manual.
And just supplying electr ical power to actuator , clutch is automatically
disengaged fr om manual an d oper ating mode is switched to electr ic oper ation .
(6) Gear & Self locking

for ce tr ansfer r ed fr om valve and it pr ovides the ex act and stable position of
actuator and valve when electr ical power is off.
High efficiency, low noise level and tr ouble fr ee design ar e another advantage.
(7) Manual hand wheel
T he Size of hand wheel is designed accor ding to r equir ed tor que to
move the actuator , so that oper ator can easily move the actuator by hand.
(8) Motor
Motor specially designed for HQ actuator has sever al featur es such as
high output power , high efficiency and ther mostat installed inside of
motor pr event over heat of motor and ther mal damage of motor coil.
(9) Limit switch

Since limit switch is dir ectly dr iven by the 2 output shaft, position dur ing
oper ation is continuous and accur ate.
Setting of Cam is so easy and once cam setting is done, position
is almost per manent unless oper ator change setting again.
(10) T or que switch
nd
T or que switch dr iven by the 2 output dr ive shaft for continuous and
accur ate tor que detection.
T or que spr ing which detects the var iation of tor que dur ing oper ation is
installed for pr eventing damage of valve and actuator under over load condition.
Once actuator is un der over load, tor que switch is tr ipped and actuator
stops immediately.
Switches ar e installed for both open and close dir ection.
T his switches set by factor y can not be set again without check with factor y.
(11) Space heater
Spacer heater is installed for pr eventing damage caused by condensed
water inside of actuator and includes ther mostat inside to pr event over heating.
T emper atur e of heater can be set as per envir onmental condition.
(12) Stopper bolt
Stopper bolt installed both close and open dir ection p r events actuator¡s̄ tr avel
over the limit dur ing manual oper ation and also pr otects inter nal gear ing
fr om it ¡s̄ br eakaway.
(13) Indicator

Indicator dir ectly dr iven by 2 output dr ive shaft has 4 signal LEDs to show
the cur r ent oper ating situation o f actuator
(Open/Close/Over tor que/Power ON - Off).
Oper ator per ceives ex act cur r ent oper ating situation even fr om a distance.
(14) T er minal block
Spr ing loaded ter minal str ip is ver y str ong against vibr ation and to add the
number of str ip for additional connection is so simple.
(15) Wir ing
Basic wir ing is standar dized to be simplest and optimal, so that var iation
depending on electr ical specification and options can be so easy and simple.
(16) Adapt ion
Mounting base is designed accor ding to ISO5211 but d iffer ent dimension
depending on application is also possible. Removable dr ive bushing pr ovides
convenient machining for adaption.
(17) Lubr ication
Using Gr eas Moly EP type, no need to r efill lubr icant for the long time.
(18) Other s

3.APPLICAT ION

Note :1. Above table just show r efer ence and no guar anty!
2. Sizing should be done after car eful r evi ewing valve factor y, temper atur e,
char acter istics of fluid and etc.
3. Having application under special condition such as high and low temper atur e,
seawater , sever e cor r osion, high vibr ation), please consult with our technical
dept befor e selecting actuat or .
4. Decision by user ignor ing our r ecommendation, we have r ight to avoid any
r esponsibility.

4. Setting
1) Manual oper ation
A. Pull over the lever towar d hand wheel until lever standsper pendicular ly.
B. If lever does not stand per pendicular ly, pull over it a gain tur ning hand wheel
slowly.
C. T her e is casting mar k to indicate r otating dir ection on hand wheel
D. Clockwise is close dir ection and counter clockwise is open dir ection.
E. No need to position the lever to or iginal for electr ical oper ation.
F. Once electr ical power is on, the lever automatically r etur n its or iginal position by
inter nal clutch mechanism.
2) Limit switch setting
A. Pull over the lever for manual oper ation and tur n hand wheel to move actuator
full close(Or open) position.
B. Loose the bolts tightening cam by L- wr ench, and tur n CLS(Or OLS) cam to CW
(or to CCW), so that cam may hit the lever of close(Or open) limit switch.
T hen tighten the bolt by L- wr ench

3) T or que switches
T or que Switches ar e set by factor y befor e deliver y andther efor eno need to set th e
switches again, but just do as follows for check if switches functions well.
A. Push the lever of close switches by scr ew dr iver until it sounds "click" then
actuator should stop immediately. If it stops, switches wor k well.
B. Check open switches as per just same with above.
* No guar anty in per for mance once this switches ar e set again.
* Befor e setting, if it is compulsor y , please consult with factor y.
4) Stopper bolt setting
A. Befor e manual oper ation, get both nuts loose which ar e engaged with stopper
bolts and t ur n stopper bolt to come out by 3~ 4 thr eads.
B. Move actuator full close position by manual.
Once cam hit the lever of limit switch to tr ip, stop manual oper ation.
C. T hen tur n close stopper bolt to go for war d until it don¡t̄¡¯not go fur ther (End of
nd
stopper bo lt contacts the 2 wor m wheel).
D. T ur n close stopper bolt to come out by 2 thr eads and tighten the loosen nut.
E. Do as per same with above for open stopper bolt
5) Indicator setting
A. Move actuator full close position and tur n indicator by hand until or ientation of
indicator is aligned to the figur e of window.
B. T ighten the bolt (Be car eful not to be injur ed by the cutting edge of indicator
and leakage of electr icity when power is on)

2)Or ientation of installation of actuator


* No limit, but it is r ecommended to install actuator in the position
which cable entr y face the gr ound or ientation for water tight function and
hand wheel faces fr ont for easy manual oper ation without inter r uption.
* Reser ve the space for mai ntenance.

6.Electr ical wir ing


A. Cable and conduit
Cable entr ies ar e machined with PF3/4¡±tap and sealed by Plug befor e deliver y.
* Please r emain the plug as it is if user doesn ¡t̄ use both cable entr ies.
* Please make sur e to seal the entr ies by using r ubber or metallic packing
after wir ing, so that water may not come in.
* When user use actuator as ex - pr oof, please make sur e to use the
cer tified connection component which is at least same gr ade with actuator .
T his is not our scope of supply, but if user don ¡t̄ use suitable component,
factor y won ¡t̄ guar anty the per for mance of ex - pr oof actuator .

2) Electr ical wir ing


* Check if electr ical specification like as power , wir ing & etc ar e cor r ect or not.
* One sheet of wir ing diagr am is to be supplied together with actuator.
* Do the wir ing as per the given wir ing diagr am, such as power , contr ol power ,
inter nal wir ing and gr ound.
* Make sur e to supply electr ic power to heater for keeping inside of actuator clean
and dr y.
* Make sur e to check wir ing to the ter minal is str ong enough.
* Make sur e that one r elay oper ates one actuator only. Can not oper ate two or mor e
actuator s simultaneously.
* Make sur e to clean inside of actuator and no for eign mater ial inside.
3) Check r otating dir ection
* In 3 phase actuator , oper ator should c heck the r otating dir ection of actuator befor e
electr ical oper ation.
* If oper ating dir ection is wr ong, limit switches doesn
¡t̄ function and it r esults damage
fr om jamming or motor ¡s̄ over heating.
* So, put the actuator at 50% open(or Close) position by manual and supply power
into the actuator and check its r otating dir ection.
* If actuator moves t open as per open signal, the dir ection it is O.K, but r ever se,
need to change the wir ing.
* Among 3 of power wir es, change 2 wir es each other .
* T hen check the r otating dir ection again in or der to confir m it again.
1) Commissioning
* Make sur e to check the r otating dir ection of actuator fir st befor e oper ation.
* Check the function of limit and tor que switches, dir ection of indicator , signal LEDs,
and space heater .
* Check l ever movement is O.K(Manual over r ide)
* Check the lamps in the contr ol panel.
* After commission, please make sur e to tighten the 4 bolts of the top cover and to
do pr oper sealing.
7.Other
1) Rever e dir ection actuator
Gener ally actuator is set as close ¡æ clockwise and open ¡æ counter clockwise.
If user want to use r ever se dir ection actuator , please do as follows.
HQ- 008
* Open the cover using L - wr ench
* Change wir es each other which ar e connected to ter minal no 6 and 7 and do same
* way for 8 and 9.
* Change t he dir ection of indicator
* Put actuator about 50% open position and check r otating dir ection is cor r ect.

HQ- 015 ~ HQ- 300(ON- Off)


* Open the cover using L - wr ench
* Change wir es each other which ar e connected to ter minal no 6 and 7
and do same way for 8 and 9.
* Change the dir ection of indicator (for HQ200 and 300, change window also)
* Put actuator about 50% open position and check r otating dir ection is cor r ect.

HQ - 015~ HQ- 300(Pr opor tional contr ol)


* Open the cover using L - wr ench
* Change wir es each other whi ch ar e connected to ter minal no P1 and P3
in the PCU car d
* Change wir es each other which ar e connected to ter minal no 9 and 10
and do same way for 11 and 12.
* Change the dir ection of indicator (For HQ200 and 300, change the window also)
* Put actuator abou t 50% open position and just push the auto setting button.
* Supply 4 ~ 20mA and check the oper ation.
2)Potentiometer setting
* Put actuator full close position and check r esistance between P1(Or ange) and
P3(Gr ey), it should be ar ound 1000Ohm.
* Put the r e sistance between P1(Or ange) and P2(Pur ple) of potentiometer ar ound
80~ 120Ohm.
* Engage potentiometer gear with pointer shaft gear and tighten the bolt.
* Put spr ing between potentiometer and pointer shaft and fix both.
* If user wants to use r ever e dir ect ion actuator , change the wir es of P1(Or ange) and
P3(Gr ey) of PIU each other .
3) Jamming
* In case that actuator moves wr ong dir ection and moves over the tr avel limit,
inter nal wor m gear contacts the stopper bolt and engaged each other .
T his is we call, jamming and can not move actuator at all.
* How to solve
A. Off the power
B. If jamming is happened dur ing close, take close stopper bolt to come out by
about 2 ~ 3 thr eads
C. Pull over the lever and put it manual position.
D. T ur n hand wheel to counter clockwise until 50% open position.
E. Check r otating dir ection again.
F. If ever ything is O.K, put stopper bolt or iginal position.
G. If jamming is happened dur ing open, pr ocedur e is same with close, but tur n
hand wheel to clockwise by manual.
4)Special tools for setting
* L - Wr ench 1 set(Metr ic)
* Scr ew dr iver s - , + )
* Spanner set (Metr ic), Monkey spanner 200mm, 300mm 1 each
Wir e str ipper , Long nose, Light
* Multi Meter (AC, DC Volt, Resistance)
* DC signal gener ator (0~ 4mA DC) : PCU option
* MA DC Meter (0~ 25mA DC) : PCU and CP T

8.Caution
A. Selection of valve and actuator :
Review all specification of valve and actuator car efully befor e making selection
and r eser ve about 30% tor que of actuator for safety pur pose.
If r equir ed tor que is 90Kg- m, r ecommended actuator tor que is about 117Kg- m.
A. Option : Please consult with factor y befor e making selection, if possible.
B. Befor e necessar y setting such as limit switch, please don ¡t̄ oper ate actuator
either fully open or fully close.
C. After electr ical wir ing, make sur e to secur e the sealing of cable entr ies.
D. Befor e oper ating actuator , please r eview this manual car efully and follow the
instr uction without fail.
Please be car eful at temper atur e, humidity, vibr ation, voltage dr op.
E. Stor age : Keep actuator dr y, clean and cool.
F. T r ouble : Please r efer to following tr ouble shooting but please don¡t̄ dismantle
the actuator without consulting with factor y.
G. If r epair or maintenance is r equir ed, please check the model, electr ical
condition, ser ial Number and cur r ent situation to infor m factor y.

9. After sales ser vice

10) When tr ouble caused by fir e, flood and other natur al disaster .

10. Maintenance
1) Lubr ication
Lubr ication is alr eady done by factor y and gener ally no need to r efill it again.
But in the places such as ver y dr y condition below R.H 15% or high temper atur e
o
higher than 30 C, it is r equir ed to do lubr ication once two year thr ough Gr ease
Nipple.
2) Regular oper ation
Electr ical power always should be supplied to actuator and it is r ecommended to
oper ate actuator once a week.
3) Maintenance
In or der to use actuator for long time, r egular maintenance once a year is r equir ed.
Pleas check oper ating condition, cor r osion, painting & etc.
