Saudi Arabia issued notification for Round


Three (1.2GW) of renewable energy program

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources (MEIM), through its subsidiary, Renewable
Energy Project Development O ce (REPDO) issued the request for quali cations (RFQ) for Round Three of the
Kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) for Solar PV Projects.

Round Three of renewable energy program will comprises of four Solar PV projects with a combined generation
capacity of 1,200 MW.

Round Three projects will be divided into two categories:

Category A: Category A will consist of two projects of total Capacity 200MW, which targets for smaller companies:

Layla Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 80 MW to be located in the A aj Province, approximately 300 km from
Riyadh city
Wadi Al Dawaser Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 120 MW to be located in the central Province,
approximately 600 km from Riyadh city

Category B: Category B will consist of two projects of total Capacity 1000MW:

Ar Rass Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 700 MW to be located in the central Province, approximately 420 km
from Riyadh city
Saad Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 300 MW

Round Three will carry a minimum requirement of 17% local content as calculated by the mechanism de ned by
the Local Content & Government Procurement Authority, which aims to increase the value-added contribution of
products and services in the national economy.

Earlier during 2017, REPDO tendered the rst round of renewable energy projects, which included Sakaka 300
MW solar PV project, now connected to the national electricity grid, and the Dumat Al Jandal 400 MW wind
project, currently under construction.

On July 18, 2019, REPDO launched Round Two of the NREP which comprised of six solar PV projects amounting
to 1,470 MW. The deadline for receiving proposals for Round Two projects is January 20 ,2020, and February 3
,2020, for categories B and A respectively.

Interested bidders need to respond to the RFQ latest by 06 February 2020, 15.00 Pm local time.
