1. I am drawing more than Rs. 15000 as Basic, should I contribute towards


Provident Fund

Employees who are drawing more than Rs. 15000 as Basic Plus DA are
exempted from Provident Fund only if they are first time employees. First
time employees not only includes fresher’s but also employees who had no PF
deductions if any of the previous companies that they have worked with.

2. I am a first time employee with more than Rs. 15000 as Basic but would still
like to contribute towards PF. Is EPS applicable to me.

No EPS is not applicable for employees who are drawing more than Rs. 15000
and first time employees. The entire contribution is remitted to Provident
Fund Only.

3. I would like to contribute more than 12%. Would I able to do the same.

Yes, you shall contribute towards Voluntary Provident Fund. There is no


employer contribution for VPF and the maximum that you shall contribute is
100% of your Basic Salary minus 12% contribution getting deducted.

4. How do I get my UAN?

If you are a first time employee UAN would be created post your joining the
organisation and before the first month remittance. The same would be
displayed in your Payslip from the subsequent month.

If you are already having an UAN the same need to given to HR who would
take care of linking the same with Olam account.

5. I have not given my previous employer UAN and new UAN had been created.
How do I link them?

As of today there is no direction option provided by PF department for


merging or linking two UAN. Alternatively you shall apply for a manual
transfer using Form 13 and once the transfer is completed your entire corpus
would be with the new UAN.

6. I had withdrawn my contributions from my previous organisation. Shall I still
use the same UAN?

Technically possible but our suggestion would be have a new UAN to avoid
any confusions.

7. I have linked my previous UAN with Olam. How do I get the amount
transferred?

You shall apply for an online transfer your UAN Login credentials. Once
applied online Olam would approve the same and PF office would process and
a transfer normally takes around 3 months if within the state and 3 – 6
months in case of any interstate transfer.

8. Do I have an option for partial withdrawal while in service.

Yes but you should have at least 5 years and 6 months of PF service for doing
so. This can be either with Olam or combined service from previous
organisations provided you had not withdrawn from the previous
organisations.

9. There are missing details in my PF portal page. How do I update.

You shall share the missing details to your HR and there is provision in PF
portal for uploading certain missing details which shall be done and approved.

10. I find a few details incorrect in my Portal (for instance name spelt wrongly,
wrong DOB etc.). How do I get the same rectified?

You need to provide a Joint Declaration along with the employer in the
prescribed format to make these changes. Joint declaration form is available
with HR. Please note that these corrections cannot be made online as on
date.

11. How do I seed my KYC details to UAN?

You have to provide the following

a. Aadhaar Card Copy


b. PAN Card Copy
c. Bank Details – Account Number, IFSC Code and branch.

HR would take care of the seeding and approval activities. You would be
intimated in case of any clarifications or mismatch.

12. I have multiple PF Accounts to be transferred. How do I do that

If the UAN is same across all organisations you shall initiate online transfer
through portal.

In case of different UAN only a manual transfer shall be applied based on


current PF Member ID and previous PF Number. Transfer can be initiated
from Olam.

13. I have applied for transfer but still no update. How do I check and what is
the time line.

If transfer had been applied online, details on approval by current and


previous employer would be available on the portal. Also it would reflect a
general transit message.

Normally transfer within the State takes a minimum of 3 months and


interstate transfers takes a minimum of somewhere between 3 to 6 months.

If you had applied for a manual transfer, status can be checked only with the
PF department. You would also receive a SMS intimation in all the above
cases.

14. I have applied for withdrawal from my previous establishment but yet to
receive the amount. How do I check?

You need to contact your previous employer on this or check directly with the
PF department. You shall also check online in the EPFO website under the
Know Your Claim Status Option.

15. How many years would interest be paid in case of unclaimed PF.?

Three years after which your account would become dormant. You shall still
apply for a transfer or withdrawal post 3 years but no interest would be paid
after 3 years from your Date of Resignation ( or last remittance against your
PF number ).

16. I am not able to find my PF Number in the Payslip. How do I know the
same?

All transactions now happen only through UAN and hence PF number has no
direct relevant apart in the case of manual transfer.

17. What is the URL to download my Member Pass Book

Please visit www.epfindia.gov.in >> Our Services >> For Employees >> Member Passbook

You shall use your same UAN login credentials for Passbook generation.

18. What is the URL and process to transfer my previous PF online

Login using your UAN credentials
Select Tab Online services
Select Transfer Request

You would find both your previous and present employer details
Select Apply through present employer and submit.

19. How to create my UAN Login

Following are the steps to create your UAN Login


a. Visit Page https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface
b. Select Activate UAN
c. Type your UAN in the space provided
d. Type Mandatory fields Name, Date of Birth and Mobile Number
e. Click Get Authorisation Pin
f. On receiving the same in the mobile number provided enter it
g. You would receive your Login and Password in your Mobile
h. Login using the credentials in the same page mentioned in Point a.
i. Change Password from the tab provided

20.How do I withdraw PF from an organisation which has shut down

In such cases you shall fill up Form 19 and 10c and get the same authorised
by a NOTARY PUBLIC in place of employer signature and submit to the
concerned PF department. Enclose a covering letter mentioning the reason
for obtaining Notary Public signature in place of employer.

21. How to proceed for online transfer if in case my previous employer is a trust.

The process for online transfer is the same both in case of exempted and
non-exempted establishments.

22.Is there a waiting period for me apply for my withdrawal post resignation /
retirement.

In case of resignation you need to wait for a minimum period of 60 days


before applying for withdrawal
In case of employees who retire after on completion of 58 years of age or
above shall apply for withdrawal immediately

23.Am I eligible for PF and Pension if my age is more than 58 years

PF can be contributed for employees who are above 58 years also but such
employees are not eligible for pension. Overall share of 24% of employee and
employer would be contributed towards their Provident Fund.
