LEISURE
It derived from a Latin word licer which means “to permit or allow.”
It has been defined as a quality of experience/ activities or as free time.

3 SETS OF TIME
EXISTENCE
Spending your day to your biological needs as a person.
Example : Sleeping and Eating
SUBSISTENCE
Spending your time in your duties or responsibility as person.
Example : Studying and Working
FREE TIME
Spending your time for enjoyment and relaxation.
Example : Playing and Exercising.

The activities that you voluntarily participate in during your free time is called Recreation.

RECREATION
It means play ; It is refreshment of one's mind or body after work through activity that amuses or
stimulates. Recreational activities are often done for enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure and are
considered to be "fun". It held during special occasions and revitalize all the different aspects of life
(physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual)
2 CLASSIFICATION OF RECREATION
SPECTATOR
People spend their time watching the event and derive enjoyment from it.
PARTICIPANT
People do not gain enjoyment merely by watching; they do so by joining the activity.

2 TYPES OF RECREATION
Many of you are less physically active (passive) that you don’t need to exert effort and energy, but
others are physically active (active) that are requires you to burn extra calories.
ACTIVE TYPE
People must function effectively in performing the action.
PASSIVE TYPE
People have no excessive movement in performing the task or action.

RECREATION CAN BE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL IN ACTIVITY


PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
People exerts efforts and bodily functions in performing the action.
MENTAL ACTIVITY
The mind is doing the functions with less body movement.

CHESS GAME
Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a chessboard.
Chessboard - checkered gameboard with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid.
In the chessboard, the 8 vertical rows of squares are called “files” and the horizontal rows of squares
are called ranks.

Gameplay
It has specified rules and uses 16 game pieces.
It has the objective of putting the opposing player’s king under check where there are no squares for
it to move to.
Chess piece
King
It is the most significant chess piece; however, it is also considered as the weakest.
It can move to any adjacent squares that are not under attacked by a challenge.
it can only move to 2 or 3 squares when castling.
Queen
It is the most powerful and dominant piece.
It can move in any place vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, provided there is no obstruction on its
way going to the desired position.
Rook
It can move in rank and in file, meaning vertically or horizontally if no chess piece is blocking its way
going to the desired position.
Bishop
Chess piece that moves diagonally depending on the color where it is placed on the board.
If it is placed on the black square, it can only move diagonally to black squares and vice versa.
Knight
Chess piece that can move I “L” shape composed of 3 ranks and 2 files.
Pawn
The pawn moves only one step forward except for the first move.
If the player decides to move it two adjacent squares forward.

SCRABBLE
It is a word game in which two to four players score points by placing tiles bearing a single letter onto
a board divided into a 15×15 grid of squares.

Gameplay
When playing Scrabble, anywhere from two to four players will enjoy the game. The objective when
playing is to score more points than other players. As words are placed on the game board, points
are collected and each letter that is used in the game will have a different point value. The main
strategy is to play words that have the highest possible score based on the combination of letters.

Tiles Value
Below are the point values for each letter that is used in a Scrabble game.
0 Points - Blank tile.
1 Point - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U.
2 Points - D and G.
3 Points - B, C, M and P.
4 Points - F, H, V, W and Y.
5 Points - K.
8 Points - J and X.
10 Points - Q and Z.

UNO CARDS
Uno is an American shedding-type card game that is played with a specially printed deck.

Gameplay
The game is for 2-10 players, ages 7 and over. Every player starts with seven cards, and they are
dealt face down. The rest of the cards are placed in a Draw Pile face down. Next to the pile a space
should be designated for a Discard Pile. The top card should be placed in the Discard Pile, and the
game begins!

Cards
• Reverse – If going clockwise, switch to counterclockwise or vice versa.
• Skip – When a player places this card, the next player must skip their turn. If turned up at the
beginning, the first player loses his/her turn.
• Draw Two – When a person places this card, the next player will have to pick up two cards
and forfeit his/her turn.
• Wild – This card represents all four colors and can be placed on any card. The player must
state which color it will represent for the next player.
• Wild Draw Four – This act just like the wild card except that the next player also must draw
four cards as well as forfeit his/her turn. With this card, you must have no other alternative
cards to play that matches the color of the card previously played.

DOMINO
Dominoes is a family of tile-based games played with rectangular "domino" tiles.
Each domino is a rectangular tile with a line dividing its face into two square ends.
Each end is marked with a number of spots (also called pips, nips, or dobs) or is blank. The backs of
the dominoes in a set are indistinguishable, either blank or having some common design. The domino
gaming pieces make up a domino set, sometimes called a deck or pack.

Gameplay

To play dominoes, start by laying all the tiles face down. Randomly choose seven tiles for yourself
and let your opponent do the same. Next, play one of your tiles face up in between you and your
opponent and let them play a tile off it. To play off a tile, choose one of your tiles that has a matching
number on it.
