Instructor Details :

1 GOALS

By the end of this course, the student will be able to perform in the following areas:

 Understand the scope of geography and its relevance to tourism


 To identify and evaluate the role geography plays in tourism and the impact tourist activities has on
physical as well as human geography.
 To understand that tourism is a multi-disciplinary subject and most of the products offered by this industry
are related to various physical features
 To learn about the various technological advancements which integrate geography as well as tourism.
 To identify the major destinations which are also attractive tourist destinations
 To understand about locations, altitudes, time zones and climate zones, etc.

2. OBJECTIVES OF DEVELOPMENT

 Learners will be introduced to the major concepts of geography, physical and human geography. They
will also understand the influence the phenomenon of tourism has on geography using maps, statistical
data, etc.

 Learners will cover a broad range of concepts related to landforms, water bodies, climate, weather, time
calculations, etc. using videos, PPTs as well as case-studies.

 Learners will also be introduced to the major tourist destinations around the world. Their location,
weather, climate, population, etc. will also he taught using videos, photographs, virtual tours, etc.

3. COURSE MANAGEMENT

3.1. COURSE DESCRIPTION

 Knowledge of Geography is he most essential subject in tourism because tourism starts, ends & occurs
on the earth Geography of tourism studies the phenomena of tourism over the global space with spatial
attention on the place of origin, place of destinations & routes through which the transportation takes
place.
 It provides knowledge about the characteristics of the various types of maps, conceptual frameworks,
forms and linkages to tourism.
 This paper has focused of some geographical concept used with tourism knowledge of India and
different countries of the world so that the students may be able to understand the tourism business on
national and international Level.

 To understand the basics of geography of tourism


 To understand how tourism can impact physical landforms a well as human geography.
