NOTE ON PROPOSED EXPRESSWAY PROJECTS IN UP TO BE

EXECUTED BY UPEIDA:

1) Ganga Expressway
 The longest expressway of the country, Ganga Expressway is likely to be 1,020
km long. The highway project, which will be developed in two phases will see 596
km long stretch from Meerut to Prayagraj in phase one.
 Under phase two of the expressway, 110 km long road stretch will be developed
from Tigri to Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand border and another road stretch of 314
km will be developed from Prayag Raj to Ballia.
 The phase one will cover 12 districts namely, are Meerut, Hapur, Sambhal,
Jyotibha Phule Nagar, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Farrukhabad, Rae
Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.
 It will include four lanes (expandable to six lanes green field), right of way 110
metres with a design speed of 120 kmph. Also, as many as 8 road over bridges
as well as 18 flyovers will be constructed.
 Tenders are floated for finalising DPR Consultants.
2) PRAYAGARAJ EXPRESSWAY:

 The length of the Expressway is 195 Kms

3) 08-Lane Access Controlled Expressways from Greater


Noida to Ballia
1) 08-Lane Access Controlled Expressway starts from Eastern Peripheral
Expressway near village Sirsi in Greater Noida passing through Gautambudh
Nagar to State Highway no. 34 near Phephana in district Ballia. The project has
been developed on DBFO basis on PPP Model. All expenses on the project to be
borne by the Concessionaire. No financial assistance/grant/fund is being provided
by GoUP.

2) Alignment- 08 Lane Access Controlled 1047 kms. (Approx.)

3) Start Point – Ballia

4) End Point – Gre

5) Traversing Through – Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Budaun,


Kanshiram Nagar, Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raibareily,
Pratapgarh, Allahabad, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and
Ballia.

6) Connecting Links – Link-1 Farrukhabad (19.215 km. approx.), Link-2 Lucknow


(90.222 kms. approx.) and Link-3 Mirzapur (13.551 km. approx.) Total = 122.985
kms.

7) Estimated length of the Expressway is approximately 952 km. and that of links is
95 kms. Its estimated cost is approximately Rs. 30,000 crores
4) 08-Lane Access Controlled Expressways from Greater
Noida to Ballia
 8-Lane Access Controlled Expressway starts from Eastern Peripheral

5) 08-LANE ACCESS CONTROLLED EXPRESSWAY ON THE


RIGHT BANK OF UPPER GANGA CANAL FROM
SANAUTA BRIDGE (DISTT. BULANDSHAHAR) TO NEAR
PURKAZI (DISTT. MUZAFFARNAGAR) BEFORE UTTAR
PRADESH-UTTARAKHAND BORDER.
 The proposed Expressway has been conceptualized by UP Govt. as an
Expressway connecting National Capital Region (NCR) with the developments of
Western Uttar Pradesh. The expressway extending from north to south will form
an integrated road network in the region and cater for the commercial traffic
which travels between the industrial, commercial and residential hubs of the
region.

 On one end of the expressway, NCR, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad has
shown accelerated growth and increased industrial and commercial activity in the
past few years. Greater Noida is one of the most modern and well planned
industrial and commercial-cum-residential townships falling within the National
Capital Region of India and is adjacent to Noida, one of the largest industrial
townships in Asia. Greater Noida also serves as a satellite township in the NCR
and will have all proposed facilities like railway station and airport in the future.

 Start Point- Sanauta Bridge (Distt. Bulandshahar)

 End Point - Near Purkazi (Distt. Muzaffarnagar) before UP-Uttarakhand Border.

 The proposed project will include following Link Expressway:

a. New alignment on South Western side of Meerut town connecting


proposed Upper Ganga Canal Expressway to Meerut Airport and
proposed DFC Terminal (Approx. Length = 23.5km).

b. New alignment from Purkazi to Deoband traversing in North Western


direction (Approx. Length = 16.5km).

c. New alignment from NH-24 near Masuri traversing in North Easterly


direction to UGC Expressway near Dasna fall (Approx. Length = 3.5km).

d. 2 nos. Future Links of 25 km. length.

 The approximate length of UGC Expressway (8 lanes) will be 147.8 km. while
length of Link Expressway (6 lanes) will be approx. 68.5km. Service road (2
lanes) will be provided in the length of approx. 97.30km.

 The proposed expressway project also includes the following :


a. Land parcels for development in (i) area of approx. 97.40 ha. (spread over
6 locations) (ii) Area opted by the developer as 'Bid', subject to max. of
approx. 1980 ha.

b. Navigation facilities (optional) along the canal, development of tourism and


water sports.

c. Augmentation of Hydro Electric Power Station at Seven fall locations on


the canal.

d. Repair and Rehabilitation of Upper Ganga Canal.

 The proposed project is passing through Bulandshahar, Gautam Budha Nagar,


Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur districts of Uttar Pradesh.

 There will be 52 nos. underpasses and 7 nos. ROBs across the project.

 The cost of the project with navigation will be approx. 8719 crores.

6) Bijnore-Moradabad-Fategarh Expressway.
 According to vide G.O. no. 695A/77-3-2008-34M/07TC dated Feb.28.2008
issued by Industrial Development Department-3,GoUP, UPEIDA has been
entrusted the expressway Project “Bijnore-Moradabad- Fategarh on the bank of
river Ram Ganga” for development under PPP Model.

7) Jhansi – Kanpur – Lucknow – Gorakhpur – Kushinagar


Expressway Connecting Southern and Eastern
boundaries of the State.
 According to vide G.O. no. 695A/77-3-2008-34M/07TC dated Feb.28.2008 issued
by Industrial Development Department-3,GoUP, UPEIDA has been entrusted the
expressway Project “Jhansi – Kanpur – Lucknow – Gorakhpur – Kushinagar (on
the bank of river Betwa & Gaghra) Connecting Southern and Eastern boundaries
of the State” for development under PPP Model.
 Concept report/proposed alignment of Expressway is under
preparation/finalization.

 EIA study of the Expressway is also under progress.

8) Lucknow-Barabanki-Nanpara link Expressway


 According to vide G.O. no. 695A/77-3-2008-34M/07TC dated Feb.28.2008 issued
by Industrial Development Department-3,GoUP, UPEIDA has been entrusted the
expressway Project “Lucknow- Barabanki- Nanpara link ” for development under
PPP Model.

 Concept report/proposed alignment of Expressway is under


preparation/finalization.

 EIA study of the Expressway is also under progress.

9) Agra-Kanpur Expressway.
 According to vide G.O. no. 695A/77-3-2008-34M/07TC dated Feb.28.2008 issued
by Industrial Development Department-3,GoUP, UPEIDA has been entrusted the
expressway Project “Agra-Kanpur (on the bank of river Yamuna) ” for
development under PPP Model.

 Concept report/proposed alignment of Expressway is under


preparation/finalization.

 EIA study of the Expressway is also under progress.

10) From Narora upto 10 km. before the boundary of


Uttarakhand State
 According to vide G.O. no. 1319/77-3-08-26Av/08 dated May 13, 2008 issued by
Industrial Development Department-3,GoUP, UPEIDA has been entrusted the
expressway Project “From Narora on the left bank of river Ganga upto 10 km.
before the boundary of Uttrakhand State ” for development under PPP Model.

UP DEFENCE CORRIDOR:

 Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor took off to an encouraging start with
the announcement of investments worth over Rs. 3700 crore in defence
production at the Meet organized at Aligarh on 11 August 2018.

 Hon’ble Defence Minister, Govt. of India Smt Nirmala Sitharaman said “Instead of
using our own production facilities, we are blindly buying from abroad. Prime
Minister is of the view...mobilise and activate these units, and link the private
sector with them, so that there is a reduction in the import bill."

 The Govt. of UP vide Industrial Development Department, has nominated


UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority) as the
Nodal Agency for:
1. Land acquisition related works for Defence Corridor
2. Execution, implementation and proprietorship of Defence Corridor through
the medium of a Special Purpose Vehicle as per the guidelines of Govt. of
India’s Defence Policy.
