I. Enumerate and Describe the theological styles and methods

* 1st style - which consult, respectively, the scholars, the suffering, and the worshippers in
matters of Scripture and doctrine.
- Fashionable among well educated persons or at least by those who aspire to be well educated.
- It is a style that encourages us to consult the experts in matters of theology.
- Focuses typically on truth (understood more theoretically)

* 2nd Style - desire to promote justice and the common good shapes
- It is a practical way of doing theology, concerned to struggle against the massive injustice
found everywhere and to change the world.
- It draws inspiration from Jesus’ solidarity with the marginalized and outsiders of his society.
This kind of theology thrives on contact with the poor and powerless
- The second style of theology encourages us to consult the poor and the suffering in matters of
faith, doctrine, and morality.

* 3rd Style - Prayer and worship form the context

- Works out of the setting of the Church at public prayer.
- Centres on the divine beauty
- The third style of theology aligns itself with persons at prayer. It looks not only at solemn,
official worship but also at expressions of popular religiosity in feasts, pilgrimages, devotions,
icons, and other things that mirror underlying beliefs, attitudes, and experiences of God.
- The third style does not ignore the present and past

* faith seeking ‘scientific’ knowledge or understanding (fides quaerens intellectum scientificum,

the first style)
* faith seeking social justice (fides quaerens iustitiam socialem, the second style),
* faith seeking adoration (fides quaerens adorationem, the third style).

II. Enumerate and Describe the 8 guidelines

everything that surrounds the scriptures are important
● Be historical - it is important to be traditional because traditional is conveying to other
generations which makes scriptures more relatable
● Be philosophical - being philosophical is important because it brings clarity to scriptures
especially with theories that prove the existence of God
● Be provisional - “negative theology” any affirmation about God must receive a negative
connotation
● Be ecumenical - being able to reach other religions like jews and Christians to different
denominations in order to build a better relationship
● Be local - Christ is about and will relate to the culture of a country
● Be converted - always practice the Christian faith
