Macy’s

Dear Employer,

As a determined and motivated individual, I am truly interested in submitting an application for a

part-time position in Fragrance retail sales at Macy’s.

Since August 2014, I’m completing my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science at the
University of Texas at Austin, especially after completing my first year at the University of Texas at
San Antonio with the same degree before I transferred over to UT Austin.

While completing my degree in both majors listed above, I worked part-time as an employee at Intel
Corporation in various groups in each year as a software engineer and data analyst. My
responsibilities as a software engineer of the first two groups I have been affiliated with were helping
with scripting programs for running tests on different CPU chips in Python and transferring data
between text files, which contained reported issues while those tests ran. As a data analyst, I was in
charge of gathering data from test flow runs, and transferring them into Excel files to draw certain
patterns to determine the minimum voltage point of running a CPU chip without throttling or quick
battery drain. Both of these position have helped me understand key employability skills while also
allowing me to experience working in a professional work environment.

In the past, I have also worked as a retail sales assistant at Jubilee Jewelers in Barton Creek Square.
My responsibilities there as a retail sales assistant were to help customers view through the
selections of jewelry, along with helping sales progress through successfully for each purchase.

On the side as an individual project, I have worked on creating fragrance blogs for my Instagram
pages as SimpleBrownGuy. I was in charge of helping viewers and potential customers as I gave
details about a certain fragrance I would post every week, providing them characteristics based on
scent, longevity, sillage, and other factors that make a fragrance unique from others.

Currently, I have been commended by my teachers, employers and other peers for my high level of
personal skills and engaging personality, as I’m more than willing towards learning new things so that
I can grow as a hard-working individual and become more affiliated in the professional working
environment.

I truly understand that you will receive many applications for this role at Macy’s. However, I
personally believe that my motivation, commitment, potential, and pre-existing skills will allow me to
fit into your work environment and start supporting the goals of your store.
