Activity 1-Dear DJ

The teacher has divided the class beforehand into three groups.
Each group was assigned a certain topic: Group 1- Love, Group
2- School, Group 3-Family. These topics are the most common
predicaments of Senior High School students which will be
discussed in their radio segments.

Boni Radio 99.9 has three radio segments which is then

delegated to the three groups. Within each segment, the group
should have a caller and a disc jockey while the rest of the
members will act as the radio listeners. The caller will ask an
advice regarding their assigned predicament and the DJ will
share his/her point-of view. Each group will be given 1 minute to
prepare and 2 minutes to carry out their segment.

Note: This activity is not graded and is solely for the purpose of
group presentation.

C. Analysis

The thing that you did a while back has something to do with our
topic for today. Hence let me ask you these questions:

 Who are the communicators involved in the radio

segments?
 How will you describe each situation?
 What were the different nonverbal cues that were carried
out by the communicators?

Since we already discussed intrapersonal communication, let us

have another speech context. What do you think will be our topic
today?

Interpersonal Communication- refers to communication between

or among people and establishing relationship between or among
them. TYPES OF INTERPERSONAL CONTEXT

1. Dyad Communication – occurs between two people.

2. Small Group – involves at least three but not more than

twelve people engaging in a face-to-face interaction.:

3. Public - refers to the type of communication that requires

you to deliver or send the message before or in front of a
group it needs to have a loud voice, gestures are also
important and we can use visuals or power point
presentation while delivering our speech.

4. Mass Communication - takes place through television,

radio, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, internet
and other types of media

Exhibiting appropriate verbal behavior (vocal behavior or the way

the message/words were delivered) and nonverbal behaviors
(body language we use when interacting) with oneself h

Activity 2

The learners will watch a video from Youtube that showcases the
different types of speech context. Another video will be viewed with
regard to the verbal and nonverbal cues in public communication.

Follow up questions:
1. Were you able to distinguish the different speech contexts
present in the video?
2. What are the verbal and non-verbal cues presented in the
second clip? How are they different from the verbal and
nonverbal cues used in other speech contexts?

D. Application

-Imagine your 16 year-old self in your first day of Senior High

School. You’re a transferee student and you have no friends at all.
You’re anxious and scared of the changes. How will you apply
interpersonal communication skills at the moment? Do you think
you’d be able to survive Senior High School if you have no
interpersonal skills?
