4. SESSION GUIDE
Session C1 is the first session of Type Rating Training which will emphasize on Cockpit preparation and Normal Checklist Expanded.
Pilot trainees shall set up their own working sequence to plan that which task they will perform fist and next during cockpit preparation. Normal cockpit
preparation will take approximately 15-20 minutes until ready for Crew at Their Station Checklist and approximately 20-25 minutes until ready for engine start.
However time spend for cockpit preparation from entering cockpit until ready for engines start is allowed for 40 minutes for session C1 and 35 minutes for
session S1. From session C2 onward pilot trainees should be ready for engines start within 25 minutes from entering cockpit.
While performing Normal Checklist Pilot trainee shall explain action to perform and/or check during all expanded checklist loudly. This is to check pilot trainees
against self-preparation of Normal Checklist expanded. During this session pilot trainees are expected to perform Prestart Normal Checklist expanded
correctly within 10 minutes. All other Normal Checklists expanded must be performed correctly. Aircraft position and altitude may be freezed if required by
instructor while performing normal checklist expanded during flight.
The sequence of working on the overhead panel is from bottom to top, row by row, left to right, basically done by extinguishing the white light P/B. This will put
the system in their normal operating configuration.
FMS initialization step shall also be practiced in advance. During this session pilot trainees are expected to perform FMS initialization correctly within 5
minutes.
Crew at Their Station Checklist shall be called for by LP, normally 15 minutes before departure time. After Crew at Their Station Checklist complete to
LOADSHEET item, PF shall perform takeoff briefing.
In this session the first takeoff and approach briefing shall be performed by instructor as a demonstration.
When loadsheet arrived, RP fills data required into RODOS flight plan then calculates takeoff data (V , V , V and FLEX), ZFWCG/TOCG and stabilizer trim.

It is very important that pilot trainee have a very good preparation before the first session. The item that can be practiced in advanced such as reading and
answering of checklist, expanded checklist items, etc., shall be well practiced before starting of first session. The reason is that pilot trainee can spend the
worthy time in simulator training for other items that can only be practiced in simulator such as Flight Procedure and aircraft handling, instead of wasting time
with items that can be practiced at home.
The flight will be cleared via SID BRUCE2 Departure MENEX Transition and climb to FL150.
During climb, cruise and descend in this session, the following AFS/FMS exercise will be covered by instructors:
- Use of Progress Page
- Review F-PLN page 1
- Direct-to

- CRZ level change

- Destination change
- STAR insertion
- Approach page review
The flight will then brought back to departure AD by some reason. ATC may clear direct to PAULA and clear for PAULA 4A Arrival, then clear for ILS approach
RWY21R via PAULA 4A Arrival.
The weather at destination may be deteriorated gradually. Be prepared to execute missed-approach. After missed-approach the flight will then be radar
vectored for second approach and perform automatic landing.
During ILS automatic approach and autoland, pilot trainee should NOTICE PITCH ATTITUDE, PITCH TRIM AND THRUST SETTING during approach at each
aircraft configuration including landing.
Second takeoff and approach will be manual flight. The flight may be radar vectored or cleared via some SID and climb manually to FL150, then radar
vectored for ILS manual approach and manual landing.
When flying manual in normal condition PF shall not operate FCU and FMS MCDU by himself. He should command PNF to operate FCU and FMS MCDU
including setting of NAVAID as desired.

REVIEW CLOCKS OPERATION

Review how to
- Set HH MM ; DD MM by RP
- Synchronize LP clock
- Set elapse time, stop watch

5. SELF-TESTS
1. What is the importance of “Stabilized approach”?
2. State track miles from the following position to touchdown.
- PAULA
- BD256
- BD254
- BD101
3. What should the aircraft configuration, altitude and speed be at the position above to be considered on the correct profile?
4. How can we prevent the aircraft from tail strike during takeoff rotation?
5. Why shall we check the altitude crossing over outer marker or equivalent point during ILS approach?
6. Why shall we check the ILS ident (call sign) during ILS approach?
7. State ILS coverage angle and distance.

8. State PF/PNF duty from plus hundred down to minimum during automatic approach. What is the importance of clarifying the duties?
9. State the maximum speed for slats/flaps configuration 15/0, 15/15, 15/20, 30/40 including maximum speed for landing extension and retraction.
10. What are the landing distance and runway required at maximum landing weight (dry and wet runway)? How much runway surface left for landing at
maximum landing weight for runway 21R and 21L accordingly?
