After the study of subjects and syllabi, the Board suggested that “content beyond the syllabus ” may be framed, taking into account i)the current
developments in each subject ii) the defined Pos ; iii)Assessment of students’ understanding based their performance in the Unit tests and Model
examination; iv) Pos attainment as calculated from (ii); v) Exit feedback obtained from passing out students.

The Board members pointed out that further steps can be taken to motivate the students right from the II- semester onwards (who have secured 85%
and above) to improve their performance and secure university ranks.

1 No. of Guest lectures[P] 28
The committee members said that the guest lectures should not be restricted to topics directly mentioned in the curriculum but should include topics on
thrust areas so that the students are exposed to current technology. Further, feedback may also be obtained from the students on the effectiveness of the
guest lecture.
10
The Board members were told that reports are also obtained individually from the students on the nature of the In-plant training undertaken by them.
The members added that such reports should be studied by the faculty members to assess the effectiveness of such training so that further instructions
can be given to students to make better use of such trainings in subsequent visits.
The Board appreciated the system of General counseling being followed in every semester, for obtaining the students’ feedback on the teaching-
learning process. It however insisted that, as is being followed now, such feedback points should be studied, enlisting students’ requirements and
suitable remedial measures should be taken to enhance the process and enable the students to improve their performance.
Project work being an important component, the final year students’ projects should be allotted after clearly forming the groups with not more than
three students in a batch and finalizing the topics for projects after clearly ascertaining the interest of the students, current relevance of the topic and
preparedness of the batch in terms of the prerequisites for doing the work smoothly. In the first review, the project co-coordinator and the supervisor
should carefully examine whether the group is well set, made ground work and initial literature survey for proceeding successfully.
The Board felt that at the end of the year, the best five projects may be identified for further improvisation and paper presentation. It was also suggested
that the practice of conducting Innovative Project Cell (IPC) competitions should be continued and the IT students should be insisted to come out with
practical working models.
The members suggested that the class committee meetings should be held within a week, after Unit Test series is over, so that any specific requirements
by the students or any remedial measures to be taken to improve students’ performance can be addressed and students will have time to put additional
efforts wherever needed, before the next test. Towards this objective, the teachers should correct the answer papers within three days from day of the
11
test and hand over the papers to the students, pointing out the conceptual mistakes made by them and also discussing the correct answers for the theory
and problems. This discussion will very much help them to consolidate their understanding of the topics.
