5. Why does she call herself “a stick to beat other women with”? Do you agree with her?

Why or why
not?

I agree that she is “ a stick to beat other women with” because Penelope was always considered as the
faithful wife. She waited for years for her husband’s return and did not even mind all her suitors since
she wants to be loyal to Odysseus. She also doesn’t want him to be with other girls as well. Penelope
knew that Odysseus was tricky, but she pretended not to see that side of him. Instead, she kept her
doubts to herself because she wanted happy endings.

10. Does this story change the way you look at literature and history? Why or why not?

This story changed the way I look at literature and history. It made me wonder if what was written in
every historical book is correct. I have realized that anyone could make their own version of what
happened and what would happen in the future. This made me doubt about those books that I’ve read
about history. For all I know, history could be as misleading as gossip. It can be more difficult—often
impossible—to verify.

1.) Many people have believed that the version Oddeysus about the events was the true one, even
Penelope.Penelope realized that people are talking behind her back and as a revenge she called story
telling as an low art because for her stories has different version and a kind of an art for people who
have low class.

6.) Based on our research sound of an owl are called “screaming woman”which is a call for their
alarming, similarity to a screaming lady and when they hoots ,people are scared of them.Just like
Penelope even if she is a wife of oddyseus and she was a princess people are afraid of her so she was
being ignored and no one wants to listen on her.

3.) Penelope remains loyal to her long-absent husband and king, which requires her to be a skillful
manager of all those potentially dangerous suitors.Penelope keep her eye blind even she knows the
truth about the sdventure of Oddyseus because she want to have a happy ending.
8. Yes, because we all know that every stories has a author or Storyteller to put a color with it. The
author is the one who originated or gave existence to anything. We don't know if the storyteller gived
the accurate information.

Joyce ikaw ba gagawa ng PowerPoint natin sa English? Ito 'yong mga sagot ko ahh,, pasensya na into lng
kaya ko ehh haha

5. yes, because she love her husband so much that she don`t want to see him with another women. She
is also considered as a faithful wife because she waited for a years until her husband's return and she
also ignore and didn't even mind all her suitors since she is loyal to his husband

6. She felt like she is an owl bird that many people scared of because when she tried to warn other
women they don't listen what she is saying, she was ignored by everyone and no one trusted her side.

8. Yes, because he/ she is the one who's narrating the story sometimes he/she add or give his/her own
opinion that may give bias to other. The storyteller can't give his/ her opinion unless it was a lie.

9. yes because it has a big impact and he/ she affect what real history is, but sometimes it can be came
from other sources that is not reliable.

10. Yes, because i realize that not all I read in historical book is true and reliable because some people
make their own version. I also realized that you need to read some article that may help to prove if that
was written in the book is true or not so you won't be fool.

2.) The traditional portrayal of Odysseus in The Odyssey, he is ultimately a heroic character due to his
bravery and sharp intellect. Furthermore, Odysseus also shows himself to be a cerebral cognitive when
he overcomes any lustfully or manly urges and also acts in a clever fashion. While in Penelope's
portrayal, Odysseus is a plausible, tricky to other people. Also a unfaithful and liar husband to her. We
think to Odysseus was a deceitful and conniving because he made the people believe about his story.
And he was tricky, selfish and a liar.

7.) In our knowledge we think that ancient history has both fact and a bit gossip or exaggerated. We
could tell if the ancient history is based on facts if there are evidences are being shown. While we could
easily recognize if it is gossip or exaggerate if the story are too much far to reality and impossible to be
done. We could tell that it can be 50% history, because it is about Penelope and her husband Odysseus
and how their relationship as husband and wife goes. And 50% gossip or exaggerated since some of it
are obviously expressed with some opinions. A story can be exaggerate depend on the author if he/she
wants to add excitement to the readers.
