ABSTRACT

The study was conducted to determine the management practices in

public secondary schools in Binangonan District during the school year 2016-

2017.

The focus of this study was the nine (9) public secondary schools in

Binangonan District. However, cluster sampling in the utilization of questionnaire

checklist was employed. There were three (3) school principals and one hundred

twenty-one (121) teachers from Vicente Madrigal N.H.S., Talim Point N.H.S, and

Janosa N.H.S. The study used descriptive-documentary analysis utilizing

questionnaire checklist as a tool in gathering the needed data. The checklist was

composed of items in different variables such as administrative management,

human resource management and material resource management. Focus group

discussion was also done to the respondents in order to verify their responses

based on the questionnaires.

On the performance of the public secondary school with respect to NAT,

skills competition and sports competition, the study found out that the schools

needed to conduct different programs to enhance the academic performance of

the students; and competed objectively in skills and sports competition against

the different secondary schools in the Division.

As to the extent of management practices with respect to the different

aspects, the school heads in public secondary schools in Binangonan District

were always practicing administrative management, human resource

management, and material resource management.

vi
The study also found out that there was a significant relationship between

the management practices in terms of material resources management and the

performance of public secondary schools with respect to skills.

On the basis of summary of findings, the study concluded that all the

secondary schools in Binangonan District conducted planning as indicated in

their Annual Improvement Plan headed by the School Planning Team (SPT). The

schools evidently adhered on the DepEd memorandum regarding transparency

and accountability. The schools maximized the use of material resources to

develop the students’ skills.

In the light of the said findings, the following recommendations were

drawn; Continue to upgrade the competencies of school heads and teachers in

different aspects of school management. Encourage schools to share best

practices to other especially the new schools and those schools who are lagging

behind. Make use of the strength of school-based management practices in

public secondary schools in the Division of Rizal and work on the weaknesses

and give solutions. Organize seminars and information dissemination regarding

school matters among different stakeholders and encourage them in organizing

activities and involve them in school committees. Utilize the Action Plan as

proposed by the researcher. Employ or Adopt best management practices

presented by the researcher to improve the educational system in the Division of

Rizal. Conduct other studies about the management practices of administrators

for further improvement of the educational system in the Division of Rizal.
