- “If we have to build a better nation we have to demand from ourselves, each of us be a good
citizen that is valued-based and values-driven, Let’s not leave our future in the hands of our
leaders alone.”

- asserts that there is no need to change structure and people.
- Explains that “building people means eliminating our weakness and developing our strengths
and this starts with analysis, understanding and appreciation of these strengths and
weaknesses, we must change and understand oneself in the first step.”

To enhance strengths and overcome weaknesses of the Filipino, she propose the following goals for
change:
1. Developed in the Filipino a sense of patriotism and national pride.
2. Developed a sense of the common good.
3. Developed value and habits of discipline and hard work, self reflection and analysis, along with
the internalization of spiritual values.

PREAMBLE
“ We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order o build a just a humane
society and establish a Government that shall embody our ideal and aspirations, promote the common
good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of
independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love,
equality and peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.”

THE GOOD CITIZENSHIP VALUES AND THEIR LEARNING OUTPUTS

1. Faith in Almighty (Paniniwala)


- Be God-fearing and live according to His will.
Learning Outputs:
- To enable the students to recognize their unique faith in God.
- To affirm the students unique gift and illustrate to them how they can continue to live a life of
faith in God.

2. Respect for Life (Paggalang)


- Recognize the absolute value of human life and human dignity of every person. Do not inflict
harm for others.
Learning Outputs:
- To enable students to realize the relevance of human dignity in their lives.
- To inspire students to be stewards of life.

3. Order (Pagsunod sa mga alituntunin)


- “Order is the sanity of the mind, the health of the body, the peace of the City, the security of the
State. As the beams of the house, as the bones of the body, so is order to all things.” – Robert
Southey
Learning Outputs:
- To identify the significance of the value of order in the lives of the student and in nation-
building.
- To apply orderliness in health of body and mind of the people for unity and peace of the
community.
4. Work (Paggawa)
- “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”
(2 Thessalonians 3:10)
- “Give fish to a man and he will have food to eat a day; Teach him how to fish and he shall have
food to eat throughout his lifetime.”

- To appreciate the value of work.
- To identify the significant of work and labor in one’s life.
5. Concern for the Family and Future Generations (Pagkalinga)
- “When his parents saw Him, they were astonished, and his mother said to Him “Son, why have
you done this to us? Your Father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.. He went
down to Nazareth and was obedient to them; and His mother kept all these things in her heart.”
– Luke 2:48,51
Learning Outputs:
- To identify ways by which people can promote the value of peace in their homes, workplace,
communities and country.
6. Love
- “Love is patient… it never fails.. its eternal… There are faith, hope and love and the greatest of
these is Love.” (1 Corinthians 13)

- To illustrate the real essence of love and how can truly be applied.
7. Freedom
- “Freedom consist not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what ought.” (Pope
John Paul II)
Learning Output:
- To raise the interest and appreciation of the of the value of freedom in our life.
8. Peace
- “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men in peace to men in goodwill” (Luke 2:14)
- Live and work together in harmony. Avoid violence as a way of setting disputes.
Learning Outputs:
- To identify ways by which the people can promote the value of peace in their homes, workplace,
communities and country.
9. Truth
- “The truth can be hidden for a time but it cannot be overcome.”
(St. Augustine)
- “If its not right do not do it, if its not true, do not say it.”
Learning Outputs:
- To highlight the basic importance of truth in one’s life, its role in national development and in
building a more just a humane society.
10. Justice
- “Treat others the way you want to have them treat you.” (Matthew 7:12)
- Give everyone their due. Do not oppress or take advantage of anyone.

- To identify the relevant social issue that highlight the value of justice.
11. Unity
- Work together and share with one another.

- To realize the importance of the value of unity in nation building and progress.
- To identify the relevant implications when value of unity is either present or absent in the
community.
12. Equality
- “That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights”

- To identify the relevance and implications of the value of equality.
13. Respect for Law and Governance
- Obey the laws of the land and support government programs.
- “The law is not meant to curtail freedom; it means to ensure that every citizen acts responsibly
while exercising his freedom”

- To develop a sense of appreciation of law and government.
14. Patriotism
- The Filipino is worth dying for. (Ninoy Aquino)
- Place the good for the country above one’s own.
- Patriotism is not a short outburst of emotions, but a lifetime of dedication.

- To identify concrete ways wherein the citizens may practice his sense of patriotism in his basis.
15. Promotion of the Common Good
- Put the welfare of the greater number of people over one’s own. Do not be greedy and selfish.

- To identify the ways which we can promote the common good.
- To awaken our interest in the promotion and protection of the interest in the common good.
16. Concern for the Environment
- Respect the environment. Care of the creation.
- Balance the ecology.

- To save our environment and nature to its present state of degradation.
- To identify concrete ways of caring environment in our daily basis.
