Important Information on Version 2016

Please note this information before installing the software

1. You can carry out the installation optionally as a separate installation in accordance with Windows conventions.
i.e. the program files and application data are installed into separate paths (see Installation Instructions).
2. The mesh administration database has been replaced by the new administration file matten.db. For security pur-
poses, an existing administration file from the pre-2016 STRAKON versions is moved into the relevant sub-directory
matten.v16. Access from pre-2016 STRAKON versions to the mesh administration matten.db is not possible.

System Requirements
Operating system Windows Vista *, min. Service Pack 2, Windows 7 *, min. Service Pack 1,
Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10 *
* 32 or 64 Bit Version
Screen resolution min. 1280 x 768 pixels
Products: - .NET runtime modules 4

If the set-up program cannot find the .NET 4.0 runtime modules and/or runtime libraries for Visual C++ 2005 and
2010 (vcredist_x86), it will offer to install them and you will have to perform this installation as User with Administrator
Rights.

Standard and Separate Installation

For initial and parallel installations you can optionally carry out a separate installation (in accordance with Windows
conventions).

Initial installation Parallel Installation

Switch on the option Install program and data separately for a separate installation. If the option is switched off, a
standard installation will be carried out.
Installation Instructions 5

Standard installation
The installation is carried out as a User with Administrator Rights. The program and application data are installed in
a common path. To ensure that STRAKON will be able to run, the installation must not be made in paths with restricted
access rights, e.g. C:\Windows, C:\Programs, C:\Programs(x86), C:\ProgramData or C:\User.

We recommend you use the prompted path C:\CAD.Programs\. Any freely chosen installation path must not contain
any accented letters or special characters.
Updates of this version number must be made using the same user name as was used for the initial installation.

Perfect functioning is only guaranteed if the user is given full access to the installed directories and working directories
of STRAKON

Separate installation
Installation is carried out for a registered user as a User with Administrator Rights or as an Administrator. An
installation must be carried out for each user of a single computer which uses STRAKON. The program is installed in
the path C:\Programs (x86) and the application data in the user folder AppData.
For quick access to your application data, enter %appdata%\DICAD\Version.2016 in the address line of the file ex-
plorer.
Updates of this version number must be installed for all users of a computer which uses STRAKON.

Initial, Parallel and Update Installations

Initial installation
If STRAKON is not available on the computer, or only in a version lower than 5.2, then an initial installation of STRA-
KONpremium will be automatically performed. Unless a license has been enabled, it is automatically licensed for 10
days as a demo version. After this, you can start STRAKON without a license in Viewer Mode.

Parallel and update installations

If STRAKON is available on the computer in a version lower than 2016 or higher than or equal to 5.2, you can choose
between a Parallel or an Update Installation.

Parallel installation
As an option, the settings of an installed 2015 version can be taken over.

The following are taken over:

Plotter/printer drivers and diversion files (not STRAKON’s own files), tablet configuration, screen settings, layer sets,
colors, editor settings, Excel template files, images from the template directory, input units, text modules, title block
data, back-up file (secur.sic), settings for data export (PPS, BVBS etc.), default sets, assignment files for the DWG/DXF
import/export, dialog settings for back-up levels, element breakdown (all SYS files), settings for automatic snapping to
points, einbau-s.dat for PPC export, definition files for design meshes and settings from the menu Settings > Basic
Settings. All files are copied locally into the standard directories of the 2016 version.

Update installation
Select the version onto which you want to install the 2016 update.
If your version is lower than 5.2, please request the STRAKON CD 5.2A, then conduct the update up to version 5.2A
and restart the installation of the 2016 version.
6

Installation
1. Select the language and accept the license agreement.
2. Select between Update and Parallel installation.
With the parallel installation, you can optionally take over the settings from the 2015 version. The settings of a
version pre-2016 cannot be taken over when a parallel installation is carried out!

In the case of an initial or parallel installation you can activate the option Install program and data separately.

3. If conducting an Update, and where several versions already exist, select the version onto which the update is to
be installed
As an option, you can delete the old program folder from the start menu. A new folder with the current entries is
automatically created.

4. As an option, a link to STRAKON 2016 can be created for you on the desktop
5. Continue by following the instructions in the installation dialog prompts.
6. Before starting the copying process all selected settings are displayed to you for information.
Installation Instructions 7

License
Version License for the Dongle
A version license is not usually necessary for the dongle used in the context of the service agreement!

Check the version number in the dongle via: Start > Programs > DICAD 2016 > Dongle Test:

Should a pre-2016 version number be displayed in the marked line, please request a version release for the dongle.
Open the license via Start > Programs > DICAD 2016 > Unlock Modules:

Click on the Request button, complete the input boxes and send the request to the responsible customer services
department.
8

Licensing the Modules for the Computer

It is only possible to unlock modules (e.g. Steel Construction Variants etc.) via an unlock code for the computer in
question.
Open the license via Start > Programs > DICAD 2016 > Unlock Modules:

Mark the modules, click on >> and Request, complete the input boxes and send the request to the responsible cus-
tomer services department.

Registering the Unlock Code

After receiving the unlock code, open the license via Start > Programs > DICAD 2016 > Unlock Modules, enter the
unlock code in capital letters and click on Register.

We wish you every success in all your work with the 2016 version!

Entering Dimensions

2nd text
If 2nd text is switched on, the prompt for/entry of the second dimension text does not take place until the position of
the dimension line has been specified and for the dimension type Multiple dimension after completion of the multiple
sets. For multiple dimensions, the prompt for the second dimension text then takes place for every dimension of the
multiple dimension.

Before entering an isometry dimension, enter the second dimension text before switching on 2nd text. If the position
of the dimension line is specified, both the dimension and any further isometry dimensions are given a second dimen-
sion text without prompting.

OD
Switch on/off the overall dimension for a multiple dimension and an automatic dimension

The overall dimension is generated after completion of the dimension.

Temporary marking of a dimension point

Before a dimension point is confirmed, it is marked by a black cross when selected.

Multiple Dimension
Insert/delete points into a dimension
If you have specified the starting and end point and position of a dimension line, you can subsequently insert points
into an existing dimension when selecting further dimension points.

It is similarly possible to delete dimension points during the entry procedure. For this, select the dimension point to be
deleted or the dimension line.
Part 5 2D Design 27

Isometric Dimension
New dimension type
Especially for 3D views which have been transferred into the drawing using the option Adjusted for isometry 1:1 you
have the dimension type Isometric dimension available to you. Points can be dimensioned which are located in align-
ment with one another from 90° or from 30° or -30°.

The order of the selected dimension points in a 90° direction determines the alignment of the dimension.
28 Text

Modifying Dimensions
Insert/delete point
The functions Insert point and Delete point have been discontinued in Modify dimensions. Newly added is the function
Edit dimension points via which you can subsequently insert or delete dimension points:

Insert dimension point

By clicking on the dimension to be corrected the dimension and its associated dimension points are marked, for exam-
ple when modifying a multiple dimension. Once the new dimension point is confirmed, the multiple dimension is ex-
tended to include the new dimension point.

In order to extend the length of the multiple dimension you can also identify dimension points outside the multiple
dimension.

Delete dimension point

In order to delete a dimension point select either it or the relevant dimension line point. The dimension value will be
removed and the multiple dimension appropriately modified:

Designing a laying field crosswise
When entering a laying field using the views A-plan, A-side and A-leg the new function Crosswise appears in the
additional function toolbar.

Additional function toolbar

You specify the geometry of the laying field only once for the laying. The 1st laying is created as normal (The load
bearing direction of the bars runs parallel to the second formwork edge.). After the prompt for the item number for the
2nd laying, the further procedure is carried out as before, however without specifying the geometry of the laying field.
Part 9 Reinforcement 51

The load bearing direction of the second laying is made vertically to the second formwork edge. As a result, the bars
are always positioned vertically to one another even within complicated laying field geometry (see Item 2 to Item 1 and
Item 4 to Item 3).

The application of rebar laying created in such a crosswise way is also useful for the saving of a design mesh using
the function Rebar design mesh.

Crosswise laying via a polygon or space

Crosswise laying via windows (Search for item)

If laying is carried out via Windows, the solid marking of the load bearing direction is laid first when drawing the window.

New in the reinforcement input Quick is the option to specify several laying fields directly one after the other via Win-
dows.

Part 11 Outputs and Interfaces 59

Interfaces
New Interfaces: CPI data Preparation and CPI XML
(Additional modules: CPI data preparation and CPI XML)
Data from 3D layout drawings may be exported via the interface CPI XML, for example for the program ceapoint desite
MD.

During this process all existing Flex-Parts in the drawing are written to the file *.cpixml with their type and sample data.
Should reinforcement and built-in part data from working drawings for these Flex-Parts also be written to the CPIXML
file, the data for each working drawing must be output using CPI data preparation. These CPI files will be read off
during the CPI XML export and entered into the CPIXML file together with the Flex-Part data.

The definition of the file names and export paths is given via the menu Settings > Data export. The file names of the
CPI files must match the Flex-Part names.

CPI data preparation

A condition for the writing of the reinforcement and built-in part data are the files artikeldef.sys and artikelnr.xlsx/-
.sys.

Open the working drawings of the Flex-Parts which exist in the layout drawing and carry out the export procedure CPI
data preparation for every working drawing.

CPI XML
Open the overview drawing and select CPI XML. The data of the overview drawing and all existing CPI files associated
with it at this time are exported to the file *.cpixml.
