What did you discover about yourself using this questionnaire? What aspects are you strong in? What
aspects do you need to improve in?

I discovered that I’m good in note-taking and reading and plan ahead for my work. Well, it’s true because
I’m really well-organized in my things. When I make a plan, I will make sure that it well be done and it will
have a good result. And also, I can handle my stress moderately but I can develop skills to manage them
more effectively. I also discovered that I’m not good in working with others, utilizing resources and
feedback. I am not that good in preparing an assignment/project and motivation. I learned that I must
improve in working with others I must share my knowledge to them and listen to their ideas as well. I must
give attention to the important resources and listen to what is being said. I must focus to my work. I must
fight my procrastination and getting away from environmental distractions. In preparing an
assignment/project. I must look for more information or other resources so I can add more information
about my assignment/project.

Reflection

1. How accurate were the children in predicting how well they would remember the word list? How
well did they remember the list? Were they able to tell you what they did to remember the words
after repeating the list? Were there any differences in age in terms of how accurate their predictions
or their lists were?

2. How well did the children do in retelling the story? Did the children tell the story in the “correct”
order or in order you told it? Were there age differences in how they responded here?

3. Consider the older children’s responses to the questions about memory and reading. Given their
responses, how well do schools seem to support children developing metacognitive strategies for
memory and reading? Did the children have a sense of which way they learn best? Do they seem to
think that teachers help them with this? How effective do schools seem to be in creating/supporting
an appreciation of reading in children? Do the children seem to see teachers being helpful in these
areas?

1. As I had made a word list activity for a children whom I have chosen to conduct a metacognitive
observation. I learned that they were able to remember the words from 5 to 3 in the word list I made. Some
were able to remember accurately and others are catching up. Through sequential repetition of reading the
word list I learned that these way they are easily remember the word list I have just told them quite loud. I
think some of the factors that make the children remembering skill is good and some are not that quite good
were probably through their cognitive development and growth development are some of the concrete
factors.

2. As I read a short story to those children and ask them to retell what they have learn, I noticed that they
are not too good in retelling but some other thoughts was able to say clearly when I help them with
anticipation in retelling the story.

3. There are various effective methods on how the school provides the simple way to start making the easier
metacognitive strategies for the children to approach their learnings. One of this might involve reading and
retelling stories very often as to lead to repetition or materials being used to recognize certain lesson being
taught in the previous teaching lesson. Some children are learning actively when the teacher incorporates
positive reinforcement. Schools are the second home for children to learn better ways of improving their
literacy. Reading is the first lesson being taught to children as it helps their memory to retain different
knowledge.

From the Module on Metacognition, I realized that metacognition…

is a vital strategies to approach different learning task as well as improving the cognitive skills in
processing the information or knowledge and find more convenient ways to comprehend the
learning task. In this module on Metacognition, I have learned many things about the techniques
and accurate description of all about the nature of metacognition on learning. Metacognition help
learners find some other ways of retaining the easiest way of understanding the information and
help choose the best way of executing the problems in some certain issues.
