1.Piezoelectric Actuators: Piezoelectric actuators

are a special kind of ceramic material that
changes its size on application of electrical
voltage, it can do the opposite too i.e. it can
produce voltage under mechanical deformation.
This deformation or the voltage generation
properties can be used to simulate the Braille
input/output system.

The figure shows the response of piezoelectric material under electrical
influence. It can be seen that the ‘dl’ has increased because of application
of electrical signal. This whole phenomena can happen in the reverse
direction i.e. under mechanical deformation it can produce electrical
voltage too.

2. Servo Motors : Servo motors are special kind of motors with
specific configuration. Their movement can be controlled from
outside world by implementing some computer codes. This
coding purpose can be controlled by a microprocessor. In a
word it can be controlled by a microcontroller. These motors
work based on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) i.e. their angle of
rotation depend on the width/duration of pulse (signal). So, they
are of great use when controlled movement is needed.
