Leadership Goals 
I will develop my leadership in Professional Development.  
○ GOAL: Participate in the Teach-Meet sessions offered at my school by leading a session. 
○ RATIONALE: Choice boards will assist lower elementary teachers in differentiating student led inquiry 
online. (​Differentiating with Choice Boards​). 
○ NBPTS: Proposition 5: Teachers are members of learning communities.​ 
○ TLMD: Domain 3. Promoting Professional Learning for Continuous Improvement. 
○ OBJECTIVE: Provide a teach-meet session to my colleagues about choice boards. 

I will develop my leadership in Curriculum.  


GOAL: Ensure the selection of reading curriculum that includes a school wide scope and sequence for direct 
instruction in phonics.  
○ RATIONALE: According to the N ​ ational Reading Panel​, systematic phonics instruction produces significant 
benefits for students in kindergarten through 6th grade and for children having difficulty learning to read.” 
○ NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to 
students. 
○ TLMD: Domain 2: A ​ ccesses and Uses Research to Improve Practice and Student Learning 
○ OBJECTIVE: Ensure that the reading program selection PLC has access to strong evidence of the efficacy 
of systematic instruction in phonics. 

I will develop my leadership in Professional Development.  


GOAL: Ensure the implementation of preservice and inservice professional development to enable teachers to 
use a program of systematic phonics instruction.  
○ RATIONALE: According to the N ​ ational Reading Panel​, teacher inservice professional development in 
techniques for explicit reading instruction leads to greater student gains in reading. 
○ N​BPTS: Proposition 5: Teachers are members of learning communities.​ 
○ TLMD: Domain 3. Promoting Professional Learning for Continuous Improvement. 
○ OBJECTIVE: Research school wide training programs and present them to the reading PLC.
