Laboratory Guidelines
Requirements for Practical classes

• All chemicals and apparatus should be returned to the proper place after

• Always wash your hands before and after working in the laboratory.
• Hazardous solutions should not be pipetted by mouth.
• Highly flammable materials must not be heated in open vessels. When
heating such materials (e.g. acetone, alcohol, ether, etc.) use either:
• a preheated water-bath.
• an electrically heated water-bath.
• an electric heating mantle.
• Be wise and careful to avoid mishaps inside the laboratory.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practice.
