legislation in your state.

Answer:
According to the WHS legislation Reporting requirement, a death or someone require immediate
hospitalisation or medical treatment happens when at the workplace.
for examples: the separate of any part of their body, a serious head injury, a serious eye injury
a serious burn, spinal injury, the loss of a bodily function or a dangerous incident occurs for example
fire explosion, infrastructure collapse, chemical spill or leak, electric shock must be report to Work safe
Tasmania.

Question 5: List the relevant WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice
for a commercial building site located in your state.

Answer:
Commercial building site must follow Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012
Tasmania. A commercial building that is used for commercial purposes, such as office
buildings, warehouses, and retail buildings where owners and managers, including
Directors and Officers, involved.
They have a duty to ensure the work place is safe. They must ensure WHS legislation,
regulations, codes of practice are met, hazards and risks are identified, and appropriate
resources and processes are put in place to eliminate or minimise risks linked with the
workplace.
This includes code of practice of
 Safe Design of Structures- Assessment of building plant & structures for hazards &
risks, including fixtures, fittings, air-con, awnings, gutters, downpipes, and any other
building plant & structures
Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces- Provides practical guidance on how to
manage risks with trips, slips & falls.
 First Aid in the Workplace- Provides practical guidance on how to provide adequate
first aid facilities, kits, procedures and training.
 General workplace management - signage, entrances & exits.
 Electrical safety includes assessment of the switchboard and the requirement for
thermo graphic testing.
 Fire and Evacuation / Emergency Management Planning

Question 6: Outline and explain a method that can be used in an organisation or

Answer:
There are two types of hazards identification
1. Systematic identification
2. Incidental identification

The Systematic identification includes Safety audits, Workplace inspections


Incident and Accident investigations, Consultation, evaluating reasons for poor
quality outputs, Industry information Notices, Health & Environment monitoring.

The Incidental identification are Illness & injury records ,Complaints, Observation,
New information, reports from customers or visitors to the workplace.

Answer:

Risk management process includes how risk in workplace will be monitored and controlled.

Question 8: Explain the hierarchy of risk control and its application in the
workplace.

Answer:
1. Eliminate the hazard control from the workplace by remove hazarded
materials or abstraction hazardous work practices
2. substitute the hazard by replace toxic materials with non-toxic materials, store hazards
materials in a designated area away from where people are working change equipment
or tools being used or install additional safety equipment

engage a WHS expert or specialist and why.

Answer:
Health Professionals need to be consult when recognise a chemical hazards, health
hazards from noise, heat or cold, ergonomic stresses, infectious diseases and psychological
stress to enhance workers health and improve safety and increase productivity of workers
Safety Engineers needs for plan and identify for new machinery and equipment whether
they meet safety requirements find correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities,
machinery, and safety equipment to meet safer work system.
