Reaction Paper to the “Voyage of Magellan”

Reading the text is really something worth taking in perspective in. First, the author is talking
abouit the Spanish perspective so it is naturally have biased from the Spanish side. From the point that
and saying such words like “The Prince of the world is the master of the voyage” and Magellan is
considered a hero (he really do deserve the title) clearly shows that his article or this book or whatever it
is has great bias on the side of Spanish.

Aside from that bias, before they land on the land of Philippine or the land of Philippines before
in “city” of Zubo as the author said in his text, they saw a number of people and the Spanish even had
established communication to the native, this only proves that Filipinos before the colonization of Spanish
is indeed civilized and have their own way of living. Spanish commenting about the dress of the way the
Filipino dress is also evidence that proves Filipinos before have their own way of clothing known in the
Philippine history, it was said in some of Philippine History books that men wears Kangan a collar less
and sleeveless cloth and Bahag, a piece of cloth that tied in the Hips and in the between of thighs and

are “kings” in every city, which means that the Filipinos before have their own governance, which is true
and Filipinos before also have classes the Mahalikas, Timawas, and the Alipins, these classes has a
connection to the government of Filipinos because only Maharlikas can become the “Datu ot King” the
leader of the “city”. It is also mention that the Spanish saw many Houses in the city that is proves that
Filipino really do have their way of living of themselves without the influence of the Colonizers, these
house are kalled kubo or Nipa hut it is thouse of the native Filipinos before the colonization of Spanish. In
the death of Magellan, the author even said that he was like a good knight dying (Lol) and this text the
words are tmaking Lapu Lapu the bad guy but in reality He was killed by his hasty actions and claims,
when he sends this message to ta messenger “Obey the king of Spagnia, recognize the Christian king as
their sovereign, and pay us our tribute, he would be their friends” this just means that Lapu Lapu shall bw
down to Spagnia. Look in this perspective, If you are a King or a leader of a city and also you do not
believe in God of Christian, what would you if they said same message to you.

In Conclusion, Filipinos have their own way of living and also they are already civilized people
living in government and with their own beliefs. They have established their own community that shows
many Filipinos are really rich not just in material things but also in their beliefs and in their culture as
Family and as a Society.

Voyage Magellan serves as one of the most important thing happen on history. Magellan greatly
help the world to be united and help to find other country around the world.

First, I observed in this article that some words are praising the Spanish, this proves bias from the
author in writing this text
Second, In this article tells the history of Magellan voiyage to world and it is mentioned in the
story that there are “King” in every island in the Philippines before, this proves the Government of the
Filipinos during Pre-Colonial period.
Third, It is also mentioned that there are crowd in the Island and they forma city, this proves that
Filipinos Before live with each other and can form a community.
Fourth, the text also wrote some part that Spanish are mocking or insulting the way of clothing of
Filipinos, that shows that Filipino have their taste of fashion.\
Fifth, This also mentioned the culture of Filipinos when they chew and spit the Mamma.

In Conclusion, Filipinos are already civilized before Spaniards colonized Philippines. Filipinos
before have their own Governance, Fashion, and way of living as a community.
