INTRODUCTION

The academic journal I chose is KPJ Healthcare: the first 30 years. The author of the
article are Zizah Che Senik, Rosmah Mat Isa, Noreha Halid, Adlin Masood, Soo-Wah Low
and Khairul Akmaliah Adham. I chose this article because its related to healthcare industry.
Healthcare industry is helps to maintain an human's health via prevention, diagnosis,
treatment of disease, illness, injury and other physical and mental impairments. As a
upcoming generation, I personally interested to grow my knowledge toward healthcare
industry and the services provide by them.
Besides, I would like to share my personal reaction toward the service provided by public
and private healthcare industries in Malaysia. The prime difference between a private
healthcare and a public healthcare is the ownership. A private healthcare is owned by a crew
of people who are managing the whole finances on their own but a public healthcare is
completely run on the government’s funding and money. The fees of a private healthcare are
higher than a public healthcare. It should be noted that most of the time public healthcare
offer their services with free of charge or for reduced rates. In a public healthcare, since the
services are mostly free but the waiting time is longer. For some operations patients have to
wait for years until they get their place but in a private healthcare, waiting time is less. If you
have money, you can do the operation very quickly. Lastly, private healthcare have the most
modern equipment and the equipment last longer too. Public healthcare have good
equipment, but due to the extreme use, they can get damaged more often than those in a
private healthcare.
From reviewing this article, hope I will understand more about the healthcare industry
and the services providing by them. In future, this information will help me to take a better
decision to get a good treatment for my family, friends and myself.
