The teachings of the Bhagavat Gita are transcendental and it is the nature of the living
beings in Kali Yuga to be envious of these teachings and disregard them. Those who
disregard the teachings are to be considered bereft of intelligence and all
knowledge. They are befooled and are ruined in their endeavor for perfection. These are
consequences of not following the Gita. It is quite amazing to note that in the modern
world, the knowledge of the Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Bhagavath Gita are
considered to be mythology or works of fiction. Moreover a dismal few number of
people have heard of these literatures in their schools and colleges.Nobody has stopped
to ponder why these subjects were not dealt in school. The schools and colleges have in
fact kept us away from a sky load of wisdom and made us products of mere mechanical
know-how.

The reason is clearly attributed to the envy of Western philosophers .The Westerners
ruled India for more than one and a half centuries. They have not only devasted our rich
heritage but also corroded us of our basic understanding of our roots and basis of
wisdom.A handful of people of the Modern generation in India are aware of Sanskrit
which is the language fountain head for understanding of our culture and rich heritage.
It was during the British regime that the educational system was revised and Sanskrit was
replaced with English.Today the modern man in India is conversant of the scriptures
through English translations of Western Sanskrit scholars. There is no doubt that all the
works translated and transcribed by Western philosophers are not authentic and have
debilitated the very fibre of truth that still lies unexplored in our ancient Sanskrit
texts. Thus the British succeded in cutting of our links with the Sastras by changing tne
Language of Education in India. The Western philosophers never wanted to present Vedic
literature better than their own literature which is in fact a figment of human
imagination and far away from the facts of life thus maligning and endangering the very

basis of human life. What Vedic information lies before us today are misconstrued and
mangled information which has created a rebellious modern India with people going
against their own scriptures. Thanks to the ignoble intentions of the Western
scholars. Some of the misconstrued revelations of the Western philosophers in their
attempt to unravel the Vedic literature are as follow. They claim that Vedas permit meat
eating as a general provison for all individuals.Sastras are mythology and that they are
nothing more than stories with some morals.

Today the holy saints and sages of India are forced to impress on people that Ramayana
and Mahabharatha are parts of “Itihaas” or History and that Lord Rama and Lord Krishna
were real characters and that they descended on earth to relieve mankind of atrocities of
demons. That they are Gods and not ordinary men. That which had to be accepted as a
matter of fact , today needs to be marketed with great difficulty for the benefit of
mankind. There was a youth who visited a temple and showed great interest in the Vedic
knowledge that was being imparted by the brahmacharis of the ISKCON temple. The
young man however was unfortunately was quite convinced that Vedas are supposed to
be good teachers and gave us good lessons but we should not make the mistake of
believing the stories mentioned therin to be true in any case. This is in a way is
blasphemous.

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says that even if a person does a lot of pious activity but
disregards vedic literature or offends devotees by not taking their actions seriously is
said to be commiting Vaishnava Apradh or demeaning Vaishnavas which is not tolerable
by the Lord. It is a fact that devotees are not free from faults. However it is an essential
virtue in the devotee to be tolerant as a tree. A devotee should curb the innate tendency
to critiscize. This will accelerate our success in Bhakti. Suppose a devotee is unclean bodily
and decides to have a bath and is on his way to the lake to have a bath, it is unfitting for
other devotees to criticize him since this devotee has already taken a decision to take a
bath.Similarly if a devotee has some vices but is trying to consciously eradicate the same
by adhering to the process of bhakti , one should not criticize him. However one may
understand that to get rid of an unwanted habit may be a protracted and ardous task.

There is an anecdote in the life of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is a well known fact that ,
influenced by the preaching of Sri Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, the elder brother of Sri
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Viswarupa Prabhu had taken up Sanyaas and had abandoned
home. This had created a fear in the heart of Saci mata , mother of Visvarupa Prabhu ,
that her younger son may also abandon her on the same lines, following the footsteps of
his elder brother. Sri Chaitanya Mahprabhu was being accompanied and advised by
Advaita Acarya. Sri Saci Mata, therefore used to criticize Sri Advaita Acharya. Sri

2
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was none other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead.Sri
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu gave all his associates Love of Godhead except his own mother
Saci Mata. This was reciprocal to the fact that Saci Mata had been critical of Sri Advaita
Acarya. In a Sankirtan program Sri Advaita Acarya lost external consiousness in ecstacy
and fell down on the ground.Sri Saci Mata took this opportunity and took the dust of the
lotus feet of Sri Advaita Acarya and applied it to her forehead.Lord Sri Caitanya
Mahaprabhu realized this , since He is seated in everybody’s heart as the all knowing
Paramatma. That very moment He rewarded his mother consummate Love of Godhead.

It so happened that once a devotee in the temple complained to Srila Prabhupada that
the temple president did not chant 16 rounds of his chanting. The devotee was of the
view that Prabhupada would call the temple president and rebuke him for the
lacuna. However Prabhupada supported the temple president and rebuked the devotee
saying “Was Arjuna chanting his beads when he was fighting in Kurukshetra?”This
startled the devotee.Srila Prabhupada had read the heart of the devotee and understood
that the devotee was complaining to him with an attitude of finding a fault and not with
the intention of compassion for the temple President. Thus Srila Prabhupada nipped the
devotee’s fault finding tendency in the bud. Later Srila Prabhupada approached the
temple President and requested him to do his chanting regularly. When Srila Prabhupada
was erecting the Juhu center of ISKCON there were many people in the locality who was
harassing Srila Prabhupada out of envy. There was a influential person called Mr. Nair
who had appointed 3 officals namely Mr Mhatre, Mr Thempe and Mr.Rane to foil the
plans of erecting the center at Juhu. Mr Mhatre was the education minister of State.Mr
Thempe was the Local MLA and Mr Rane was in charge of certain other State
departments. Mr. Mhatre started sticking posters everywhere and also doing anti-
propoganda in newspapers about ISKCON and tried to malign the name of the Institution
in every possible way. Mr. Thempe canvassed with ISKCON life members and was causing
ill-fame to ISKCON by word of mouth.Mr.Rane was a Black magician. He created a dummy
effigy of Srila Prabhupada and performed several black magic acts on it so as to cause
harm to Srila Prabhupada. Devotees of ISKCON were belaboured badly by Rane and he
caused unlimited harm to them. The devotees cursed Rane saying that he would be burnt
to death for causing so much of physical and mental agony to devotees. Death of
Mr.Rane came to pass in a few days after this incident. As Mr Rane perfomed his Black
magic act , he happened to light a match stick in a room that had suspectedly had a gas
leakage. This caused an explosion and Mr Rane was instantly bathed in flames and was
charred to death.
