USES
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE is used for all structures
which are required to be waterproofed and protected
against the ingress of moisture like basements, Lift Shafts,
Water tanks, Swimming Pools, Sewage Tanks, Retaining
Walls, Reservoirs, Bridge Pillars, Dams, Tunnels, Dock
gates etc.
DESCRIPTION
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE is a prepacked single
component powder based on processed cements and
special fillers that can be brush applied to well prepared
sound substrates to provide extremely tough durable
waterproof coating. It is to be applied @ 2-3 mm thickness
for water tanks, basements etc., where water under
hydrostatic pressure exists WATERGUARD must be used
in conjuction with WATERGUARD T.
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE becomes an integral part
of the concrete surface thereby eliminating problems
normally associated with coatings (e.g. scaling, dusting,
flaking and delamination). The active chemicals react with
the moisture of the fresh concrete causing a catalytic
reaction which generates a non-soluble crystalline
formation within the pores and capillary tracts of the
concrete. It confirms to DIN 1048 (Equivalent to EN 12390-
8).
PROPERTIES
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE when used as
recommended combines with water and cement to form an
impermeable coating by blocking the capillaries and pores.
i.e. waterproofing by crystallisation.
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation: All leaks and water jets must be
stopped using FAIRMATE WATERPLUG plugging
compound. Substrate must be sound, clean and free from
loose particles or laitance or contamination and present
cracks must be treated with CRACKSEAL (See separate
data sheet).
Mixing: WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE should
preferably be mixed mechanically by using an electric drill
and paddle attachment. Pour 8 to 9 liters of water in the
container first and add powder slowly while mixing
continuously until an even homogeneous mix of brushing
consistency is obtained.
Application: The prepared surface must be thoroughly
wetted with water for absorption and excess water should
be removed. WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE must be
applied in 2/3 uniform coats at an application rate of 1-1.5
kg/m² per coat on the water pressure side of the structure.
Mixed WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE will remain
workable for 20 minutes. Mixing in small quantities is
recommended.
Cleaning: All tools must be cleaned with water
immediately after use.
PACKING & COVERAGE
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE is available in 25 kg bag.
It has a coverage of 16.5 - 25 m² at a rate of 1-1.5 Kg / m²,
depending on the porosity of the surface. Two or three coats
are recommended.
SHELF LIFE & STORAGE
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE will have a shelf life of 9
months in unopened containers when kept in dry
conditions at a temperature between 5ºC to 45ºC. Storage
at higher temperature or high humidity may reduce shelf
life.
HEALTH & SAFETY
WATERGUARD CRYSTALLINE is non toxic and any
splashes on the skin can be washed off with water.
