Telecommunications Industry

The telecommunications industry within the sector of information and

communication technology is made up of
all Telecommunications/telephone companies and internet service
providers and plays the crucial role in the evolution of mobile
communications and the information society. Traditional telephone
calls continue to be the industry's biggest revenue generator, but thanks
to advances in network technology, Telecom today is less
about voice and increasingly about text (messaging, email) and images
(e.g. video streaming). High-speed internet access for computer-based
data applications such as broadband information
services and interactive entertainment, is pervasive. Digital subscriber
line (DSL) is the main broadband telecom technology. The fastest growth
comes from (value-added) services delivered over mobile networks.
- Advantage
1. Improve Efficiency
The latest telecommunication devices and networks have made it easier for
employees to send and receive data from different locations in real-time. A
business can even share information with customers, suppliers and partners
via a live video feed. All these players can connect and interact through voice
calls, e-mails and video conferences among other platforms.
2. Save Time
With the use of video calls and video conferences, inviting people to join in a
virtual meeting space is a matter of minutes. All the host needs to do is invite
attendees through email or video call them on their smartphones. That way,
finding and connecting employees based in different locations can be
convenient and hassle-free. The person hosting a meeting can determine the
persons who are available online by checking on their presences. Most
telecommunication platforms allow users to post messages on their accounts
to indicate the status of their presence like busy, free for calls, away and more.
3. Bring Flexibility to the Workplace
Telecommunication offers a range of flexible work options which company
employees can adopt. With the use of video conference and video calling
systems, employees can work from home or join in any corporate meetings
from anywhere at any time. Access to a video conference can be done from a
PC or mobile device. That eliminates the need to attend physical meetings or
manual visit offices to get the work done. Employees carrying out computer-
based tasks can particularly enjoy working from home as they can finish tech
projects online from anywhere. Even when carrying out team collaboration
with other employees from different departments, they can gladly do so over a
video conference or telepresence system.

1. Eliminate Face-To-Face Contact
 Adopting telecommunication systems may allow company employees to
interact from different locations, but it doesn't offer colleagues a chance to
enjoy a one-on-one talk. Most of the meetings held over video conference
systems are mostly business or project oriented and do not allow for
socialization. That increases bad relationship at work, something that may
affect business performance in the future.
2. Increase Vulnerability to Information Hacking and Attacks
One of the major problems associated with the use of telecommunication
systems is security attacks. With sensitive data being transmitted and shared
over the Internet and other networks, there's a possibility people will try to
hack it either for their own pleasure or for use by the competition. And in
order to counter that, system users might need to update passwords
periodically or invest in advanced data encryptions. That makes
communication through video conferences, teleconferences and video calls,
unsafe and costly to a larger extent.
3. Increase the Communication Costs of a Company
Acquiring and setting up telecommunication equipment and/or software may
require a huge budget. Right from high-quality webcams to huge LCD screens
all through sophisticated video conferencing software, a business can really
spend a lot in getting everything set up. And before officially introducing the
system to the business, it might be necessary to train employees on how to
use the new communication technology. That may mean even more spending.
And not forgetting the enormous costs associated system maintenance. In
essence, setting up a telecommunication system might bring convenience and
flexibility, but it may lead to increased costs in the long run.

Computer Industry
 The computer industry was born with construction of the ENIAC in 1946.
Even so, the term goes back farther than 1946. It was coined during World
War II to describe workers, mostly women, who used cumbersome
mechanical calculators to determine the trajectories of artillery shells. Since
their jobs were to "compute" the shell trajectories, they came to be called
"computers." Computer industry can generate enormous economic returns for
society, and also can open a broad market for computers and create favorable
conditions for the development of the computer industry.

- Advantage
1. Keep track of everything
Computers allow the application of different types of software that can help
businesses keep track of their files, documents, schedules and deadlines.
Computers also allow businesses to organize all of their information in a very
accessible manner. The ability to store large amounts of data on a computer is
convenient and inexpensive, and saves space. A computer's ability to allow a
company to organize its files efficiently leads to better time management and
productivity.
2. Do More, With Less
Computers have made staff and companies more self-sufficient by allowing
them to do tasks that previously had to be outsourced. For example, a
company can now use office software to create their own training material.
Desktop publishing software can be used to create marketing materials.
Online tax and accounting programs allow companies to prepare their own
taxes. This allows the dominant operations of a company to remain in-house
and empowers the company to become more independent and less
susceptible to errors committed by outside parties.
3. Do It Better, Do It Faster
Computers help speed up other business operations. The collecting of
consumer feedback, ordering of raw materials, and inspection of products is
made quicker through the use of computers, allowing companies to operate
much faster and to produce better quality results.
 - Disadvantage
1. Heavy Reliance
Many businesses rely so heavily on computers that a power loss or system
crash can prove devastating. Valuable files may be lost, sometimes
permanently, which can have long-term implications if the files were not
backed up with paper or other methods. A customer service-oriented business
that depends on being able to provide prompt and reliable responses to
customer inquiries can also find itself at a severe disadvantage if it loses
computer access.
2. Distractions
Computers can create distractions, especially if employees are provided with
full Internet access. Instead of working, employees may be tempted to spend
time aimlessly surfing the Web, sending videos to friends, playing games or
engaging in Instant messaging conversations. A humorous or provocative
video may be forwarded throughout a workplace and serve to distract a
number of workers. Businesses may need to go to the added expense of
purchasing and installing Internet filtering software to limit workers'
browsing access.
3. Dangers of Hacking
Even small businesses use computers to store sensitive customer information,
such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account
information and addresses. If a hacker successfully breaks into a business's
computer system, he can use the information to drain bank accounts or run up
charges on credit cards. At best, this can create a public relations nightmare
for the company. At worst, it can make the company susceptible to legal
action, especially if it did not implement effective security measures.
 Construction Industry

Construction Industry is one of the most booming industries in the whole

world. This industry is mainly an urban based one which is concerned with
preparation as well as construction of real estate properties. The repairing of
any existing building or making certain alterations in the same also comes
under Construction Industry. This industry can be categorized into three
basic categories namely:
 Construction involving heavy and civil engineering
The construction of large projects such as bridge, road, etc. comes under this
category.
 General construction
The construction works that involve building of real estate ones such as
residential or commercial real estate assets, etc.
 Construction projects involving specialty trades
Construction works that involve building up of specialized items namely,
electric related works, works on woods, etc.

Technical and IT staff with an added 5,240 jobs with the second being Wood
Trades and Interior Fit Out with 3,850 staff needed to join the industry.

Salaries in construction are continuing to increase and are expected to
continue growing. On average, a Construction salary is higher than the
national average annual salary. Who doesn’t want that! As you grow with a
construction industry, you can also expect steady promotions and pay raises.
If you put in the time and hard work, you will be on your way to a stable
career and great pay.
3. Its easy to enter and get started
Another advantage to working in construction is that for many trades, it’s easy
to enter the trade and start a career – with almost no experience. For many
trades, you can start as a laborer, work hard, learn the trade over a few years,
and progress in your skills, position and salary. Many contractors in trades
like carpentry, remodeling, and more, are looking for people that are
hardworking and willing to learn. Here’s a few skilled trades jobs you can
get without any experience at all. Not many other career options allow you to
enter without a degree or formal training, start getting paid, and work your
way up to the position you want.

1. It can be hazardous
Depending on your trade, you’ll be working with equipment that can cause
injury if not used safely and properly, or in hazardous environments where
death or serious injury can occur if you’re not careful. Even though the
industry is focused on safety training, and making sure companies train their
employees in fall safety training, heavy equipment training, and more, an
estimated 150,000 accidents occur each year on the job site. To prevent this,
make sure the company you’re working for is focused on creating as safe of a
workplace as possible, and provides all needed safety training. And when
you’re on the job, pay attention: read all safety warnings, operate tools with
safe procedures, and make sure you follow all your company’s policies to
ensure a safe work space.

When you’re starting with no experience, it can take years to learn your trade.
It doesn’t happen overnight, and there’s no replacement for on the job
training. While this is true for any job worth having, younger workers may be
tempted to give up or get frustrated when their pay, position, or skills don’t
increase as much (or as fast) as they’d like them to.
3. Its physically demanding work
Ask any Pro and they’ll tell you: the trades are hard work. They can be
physically demanding and uncomfortable. How hard is construction work?
Well, depending on the job you’re doing, you might: work in extreme heat or
cold, be exposed to the elements for long periods of time, do heavy lifting and
extensive manual labor, and more. Simply put, construction can be really hard
on your body. To combat this, make sure that you stretch regularly, eat and
hydrate extremely well, and adhere to all safety practices and safe tool uses.
