® TWACS External
Inbound Pickup Unit

Inbound Pickup Units (IPUs) are connected in series with the utility’s metering,
auxiliary, or protection/relaying CTs. The IPU passes theTWACS inbound signal
to the Control and Receiving Unit. An IPU is required for each bus/feeder that
carries TWACS inbound signals. Aclara offers two types of IPUs:
· 5 A IPUs are designed for use with utility CTs that have a secondary output of 5 amps.
· 1 A IPUs are designed for use with utility CTs that have a secondary output of 1 amp.
