Session 1
Jesus and the Courts of Heaven
Introduction
Jesus teaching on prayer Matthew 6:9-13 & Luke 11:1-13 …. Not on a battlefield but
flowing from a relationship with God the Father.
In Luke 18:1-8 … Jesus is clearly stating that when we pray we are entering a
courtroom.
The Lord has led us into “His Courtroom” multiple times in the past, and we considered
those “special projects” … and they were.
1
• October 2010Humble Oil Court Case dealt with “Powers of Darkness” desire
to rule the Earth through Rockefeller decrees
• March 2013 Abortion sites resulted in drastic reduction in abortion clinics
in Texas
What if this kind of prayer is supposed to be the norm, not the occasional “special
project”?
B. In the same way Heaven’s Courts have a protocol that should be observed.
D. Having just returned from Washington DC and visiting some of the historic
battlefields of American history it is clear that superior armies are often defeated
due to a lack of strategy on the part of the stronger force.
1. It is sad to consider how many times we have made decrees that do more to
stir up demonic forces than dismantle them because no legal precedent has
been gained from the Throne of God.
E. The first thing we need to see is that Heaven is open to us and we have access to
the Court of the King.
2
Revelation 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in
heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking
with me, said, “Come up here, …..
Ephesians 2:18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
F. Secondly, we should be able to pinpoint the things that need to be dealt with
accuracy.
1 John 5:14–15 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask
anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in
whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
1. One of the most critical steps to effective prayer is understanding the will of
God and praying in agreement with that will.
2. So we must learn how to operate in the Courtroom of Heaven and get verdicts
and judgments in place so answers can come to our prayers and the Kingdom
of Heaven can come to the Earth.
Psalm 56:8 You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in Your book?
1. God wrote down in a book the destiny and Kingdom purpose for each of us.
2. He saw not just the number of our days but the activities in them and what we
would accomplish in our lives.
3. Our battle is to see what is written in our book manifest on the Earth.
4. Even Jesus had a book written that He was to fulfill.
Hebrews 10:5–7 Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “SACRIFICE AND
OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME; 6 IN WHOLE
BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE TAKEN NO PLEASURE. 7 “THEN I SAID,
‘BEHOLD, I HAVE COME (IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME) TO DO YOUR WILL,
O GOD.”
5. When we were born we began the process of living out our Kingdom purpose.
This is why Ephesians 2:10 says we are His workmanship.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
3
6. The word workmanship in Greek means poem …. A poem with a point
7. The Apostle John while in heaven was given a book to eat.
Revelation 10:8–11 Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again
speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the
angel who stands on the sea and on the land.” 9 So I went to the angel, telling him to
give me the little book. And he said to me, “Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach
bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” 10 I took the little book out of the
angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten
it, my stomach was made bitter. 11 And they said to me, “You must prophesy again
concerning many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.”
4. Notice God said, Let Us …. In other words there was a discussion or a council
concerning the formation of man in the image and likeness of God.
2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to
our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in
Christ Jesus from all eternity,
5. Purpose and grace were given to Paul and Timothy before time began.
a. This means our purpose and the grace to fulfill what is written in our
book have been waiting on us to discover them before time began!
b. Purpose is what is written in the books about you and grace is the
empowerment to bring about the reality of it.
c. To understand this we must realize that before we existed there was a
book about us in Heaven.
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who
will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
4
6. At the very least Isaiah was hearing a “council” in Heaven and responded to
their question. Most probably God spoke something written in Isaiah’s book
and he responded to his destiny.
7. Once decisions are made in heaven then decisions must be made on Earth.
Matthew 21:28–31 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to
the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ 29 “And he answered, ‘I will
not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 “The man came to the second and said
the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. 31 “Which of the two
did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.”
9. This is our job, to discover, come into agreement with and bring what is
written there to Earth in natural forms. I don’t believe we will be judged on
this sin or that sin but our judgment will be based on how closely we lived our
lives to what is written in the books of Heaven. Did we fulfill our destiny?
Next session we will look at these five words and what we find could be surprising ….
