EDITORIAL COLUMN
Esteemed Readers:
Recently the assembly elections were held in several phases,

which could be called a marathon political process.
But was assumed Mr. Nitish Kumar shall be the hero once again.
The cover page depicts a picture from the Bihar state where girl
children are sent out on bicycle to schools, which is a
heartening scene.
Women are the torch bearers of society. If women are educated, it

will control many things such as population, violence, dowry,
gender related disparities and atrocities, and but develops
economy, equality, etc.
Women are the epicenter of development of society, which starts

from each home. Several good homes make one better society, and
several quality societies form one great nation.
Bihar could be one of the under-developed States in India. But
ancient Bihar was rich in culture, religion, education, etc.
There were Universities in Bihar.
The efforts put in by the Bihar Government under Mr. Nitish Kumar
in all these spheres are appreciated. Let us hope that this kind
of initiatives shall be adoped by other States also and it shall
be our dream where 100% people of this country are educated
minimum upto Graduate level and all are either employed or self
sufficient.

The sign of Capricorn is an earthy sign and ruled by the planet

Saturn. Capricorn people do not yield to disease very readily.
They are of a wiry, persistent, and solid nature, and will suffer
considerable pain before they will succumb to illness. But once
they have given in to sickness then they are just as slow and
stubborn in holding on to it. They sometimes become
hypochondriacs, and the healer must use most diplomatic methods
to break up the crystallized condition with which these Saturnian
people clothe themselves. The most unfortunate part of it is that
if a Capricorn who is in this mental and physical state is aware
that anyone is endeavouring to help him, he will resist help and
close up against the friend who thus approaches him. Capricorn
people are super-sensitive and very retiring. They often form
habits of entertaining gloom and despondency, which have a
deteriorating effect upon the health.
The sign of Capricorn has rule over the knees, the skin, the

human leg or leg can refer to the
entire lower extremity or limb
of the human body, including the
foot, thigh and even the hip or
gluteal region, the precise
definition in human anatomy
refers to the section of the
lower limb extending between the
knee and the ankle.
Legs are used for standing,

walking, jumping, running,
kicking, and similar activities,
and constitute a significant
portion of a person's mass.
Lateral aspect of right leg
Anatomy
In human anatomical terms, the leg is the part of the lower limb
that lies between the knee and the ankle, the thigh is between
the hip and knee and the term "lower limb" is used to describe
the colloquial leg. This article generally follows the common
usage.
The leg from the knee to the ankle is called the cnemis (née'mis)
or crus. The calf is the back portion and the shin is the front.

Evolution has provided the human body with two distinct features:
the specialization of the upper limb for visually-guided
manipulation and the lower limb's development into a mechanism
specifically adapted for efficient bipedal gait. While the
capacity to walk upright is not unique to humans, other primates
can only achieve this for short periods and at a great

expenditure of energy. The human adoption to bipedalism is not
limited to the leg, however, but has also affected the location
of the body's center of gravity, the reorganisation of internal
organs, and the form and biomechanism of the trunk. In humans,
the double S-shaped vertebral column acts as a shock-absorber
which shifts the weight from the trunk over the load-bearing
surface of the feet. The human legs are exceptionally long and
powerful as a result of their exclusive specialization to support
and locomotion — in orangutans the leg length is 111% of the
trunk; in chimpanzees 128%, and in humans 171%. Many of the leg's
muscles are also adopted to bipedalism, most substantially the
gluteal muscles, the extensors of the knee joint, and the calf
muscles.
Skeleton
Bones of the leg
The major (long) bones of the human leg are the femur
(thighbone), tibia (shinbone), and fibula (the smaller, rear calf
bone). The patella (kneecap) is the bone in front of the knee.
Most of the leg skeleton has bony prominences and margins that
can be palpated, notable exceptions being the hip joint, and the
neck and shaft of femur. Many of these anatomical landmarks are
used to define the extent of the leg: most notably the anterior
superior iliac spine, the greater trochanter, the superior margin
of the medial condyle of tibia, and the
With the popliteus as the single exception, all muscles in the

leg are attached to the foot and, based on location, can be
classified into an anterior and a posterior group separated from
each others by the tibia, the fibula, and the interosseous
membrane. In turn, these two groups can be subdivided into
subgroups or layers — the anterior group consists of the
extensors and the peroneals, and the posterior group of a
superficial and a deep layer. Functionally, the muscles of the
leg are either extensors, responsible for the dorsiflexion of the
foot, or flexors, responsible for the plantar flexion. These
muscles can also classified by innervation, muscles supplied by
the anterior subdivision of the plexus and those supplied by the
posterior subdivision. The leg muscles acting on the foot are
called the extrinsic foot muscles whilst the foot muscles located
in the foot are called intrinsic.

In the normal case, the large joints of the lower limb are
aligned on a straight line which represents the mechanical
longitudinal axis of the leg, the Mikulicz line. This line
stretches from the hip joint (or more precisely the head of the
femur), through the knee joint (the intercondylar eminence of the
tibia), and down to the center of the ankle (the ankle mortise,
the fork-like grip between the medial and lateral malleoli). In
the tibial shaft, the mechanical and anatomical axes coincide,
but in the femoral shaft they diverge 6°, resulting in the
femorotibial angle of 174° in a leg with normal axial alignment.
A leg is considered straight when, with the feet brought
together, both the medial malleoli of the ankle and the medial
condyles of the knee are touching. Divergence from the normal
femorotibial angle is called genu varum if the center of the knee
joint is lateral to the mechanical axis (intermalleolar distance
exceeds 3 cm), and genu valgum if it is medial to the mechanical
axis (intercondylar distance exceeds 5 cm). These conditions
impose unbalanced loads on the joints and stretching of either
the thigh's adductors and abductors. The angle of inclination
formed between the neck and shaft of the femur, the
collodiaphysial angle, varies with age—about 150° in the newborn,
it gradually decreases to 126-128° in adults, to reach 120° in
old age. Pathological changes in this angle results in abnormal
posture of the leg: A small angle produces coxa vara and a large
angle in coxa valga; the latter is usually combined with genu
varum and coxa vara leads genu valgum. Additionally, a line drawn
through the femoral neck superimposed on a line drawn through the
femoral condyles forms an angle, the torsion angle, which makes
it possible for flexion movements of the hip joint to be
transposed into rotary movements of the femoral head. Abnormally
increased torsion angles results in a limb turned inward and a
decreased angle in a limb turned outward; both cases resulting in
a reduced range of mobility.
Extrinsic
Anterior muscles.
Three of the anterior muscles are extensors. From its origin on

the lateral surface of the tibia and the interosseus mebrane, the
three-sided belly of the tibialis anterior extends down below the
superior and inferior extensor retinacula to its insertion on the
plantar side of the medial cuneiform bone and the fifth
metatarsal bone. In the non-weight-bearing leg, the anterior
tibialis dorsal flexes the foot and lifts the medial edge of the
foot. In the weight-bearing leg, it pulls the leg towards the
foot. The extensor digitorum longus has a wide origin stretching
from the lateral condyle of the tibia down along the anterior

side of the fibula, and the interosseus membrane. At the ankle,
the tendon divides into four that stretch across the foot to the
dorsal aponeuroses of the last phalanges of the four lateral
toes. In the non-weight-bearing leg, the muscle dorsiflexes the
digits and the foot, and in the weight-bearing leg acts similar
to the tibialis anterior. The extensor hallucis longus has its
origin on the fibula and the interosseus membrane between the two
other extensors and is, similarly to the extensor digitorum, is
inserted on the last phalanx of big toe ("hallux"). The muscle
dorsiflexes the hallux, and acts similar to the tibialis anterior
in the weight-bearing leg.[24] Two muscles on the lateral side of
the leg form the peroneal group. The peroneus longus and brevis
both have their origins on the fibula and they both pass behind
the lateral malleolus where their tendons pass under the peroneal
retinacula. Under the foot, the longus stretches from the lateral
to the medial side in a groove, thus bracing the transverse arch
of the foot. The brevis is attached on the lateral side to the
tuberosity of the fifth metatarsal. Together the two peroneals
form the strongest pronators of the foot. The peroneus muscles
are highly variable and several variants can occasionally be
present.
Superficial
and deep
posterior
muscles.
Of the posterior muscles three are in the superficial layer. The

major plantar flexors, commonly referred to as the triceps surae,
are the soleus, which arises on the proximal side of both leg
bones, and the gastrocnemius, the two heads of which arises on
the distal end of the femur. These muscles unite in a large
terminal tendon, the Achilles tendon, which is attached to the
posterior tubercle of the calcaneus. The plantaris closely
follows the lateral head of the gastrocnemius. Its tendon runs
between those of the soleus and gastrocnemius and is embedded in
the medial end of the calcaneus tendon.
In the deep layer, the tibialis posterior has its origin on the
interosseus membrane and the neighbouring bone areas and runs
down behind the medial malleolus. Under the foot it splits into a
thick medial part attached to the navicular bone and a slightly
weaker lateral part inserted to the three cuneiform bones. The
muscle produces simultaneous plantar flexion and supination in
the non-weight-bearing leg, and approximates the heel to the calf
of the leg. The flexor hallucis longus arises distally on the

fibula and on the interosseus membrane from where its relatively
thick muscle belly extends far distally. Its tendon extends
beneath the flexor retinaculum to the sole of the foot and
finally attaches on the base of the last phalanx of the hallux.
It plantarflexes the hallux and assists in supination. The flexor
digitorum longus, finally, has its origin on the upper part of
the tibia. Its tendon runs to the sole of the foot where it forks
into four terminal tendon attached to the last phalanges of the
four lateral toes. It crosses the tendon of the tibialis
posterior distally on the tibia, and the tendon of the flexor
hallucis longus in the sole. Distally to its division, the
quadratus plantae radiates into it and near the middle phalanges
its tendons penetrate the tendons of the flexor digitorum brevis.
In the non-weight-bearing leg, it plantar flexes the toes and
foot and supinates. In the weight-bearing leg it supports the
plantar arch.
Bone: Patella
Right knee
The patella, also known as the knee cap or kneepan, is a thick,

circular-triangular bone which articulates with the femur and
covers and protects the anterior articular surface of the knee
joint. It is the largest sesamoid bone in the human body.
Structure

The patella is roughly triangular in shape with its base facing

proximally (towards the torso) and its tip (apex patellae) facing
distally (towards the feet). Its anterior and posterior surfaces
are joined laterally (left/right) by a thinner margin and
medially (towards centre) by a thicker margin.
Anterior surface: The anterior surface can be divided into three

parts:
The upper third is coarse, flattened, and rough; it serves for
the attachment of the tendon of the quadriceps and often
has exostoses.
The middle third has numerous vascular canaliculi.
The lower third includes the distal apex which serves as the
origin of the patellar ligament.
Posterior surface

The posterior surface is divided into two parts.
The upper three-quarters articulates with the femur and is
subdivided into a medial and a lateral facet by a vertical ledge
which varies in shape. Four main types of articular surface can
be distinguished:
Most commonly the medial articular surface is smaller than the

lateral.
Sometimes both articular surfaces are virtually equal in size.
Occasionally, the medial surface is hypoplastic or

the central ledge is only indicated.
In the adult the articular surface is about 12 cm2 (1.9 sq in) and covered by cartilage,
which can reach a maximal thickness of 6 mm (0.24 in) in the centre at about 30 years of
age. The lower part of the posterior surface has vascular canaliculi filled and is filled by
fatty tissue, the infrapatellar fat pad.

Under the dramatic circumstances, the present C.M. Sri Rosaiah

resigned and raised curtains for a new and young person Sri.
Kiran Kumar Reddy to become the 16th C.M for Andhra Pradesh. He
took his “Oath” on 25-11-2010 at 12.14 PM Hyderabad. In this
scenario all are curious about his ruling and strategies to cope
with the tough political situation in the state. As an ardent
follower of KP I am interested to analyze the Oath taking
“Moment” to project the possible outcome in the future.
As we all know, in KP for ruling power 10th house, for

controlling rivals 6th house, for fulfillment of desire 11th house
are very important and 3rd house is also important for co-
operation from others. All these are termed as “Upachaya
sthanas”. The respective sub lords of these cusps are the
decisive factors.
For oath taking movement:
 Ascendant sub lord must have connections to 3-6-10-11

houses for easy ruling and control over situations.

 If connected with 5-8-12 houses there will be problems in
ruling, supported by 10th house (by similar connection and
also with 9 houses) also surely power will be dissolved.
 If Ascendant sublord is connected with Maraka-Badhaka
sthanas then bye- elections will be surely take place.
Applying the above principles for the current “Muhurath Chart” we
find that:
Ascendant sub lord is Venus-9th lord in 9th house in Mars star and
own sub. Mars is lord of 3, 10 in 10 in Mercury star. Mercury is
in 10th house along with 10th lord Mars. Here it is to be noted
that Venus though Badaka lord in own house without any planets in
her stars is very malefic, but she is in the star of beneficial
Mars. No doubt she will offer negative results in her period but
in the period of another benefic she will surely offer positive
results only. This point strengthens the Ascendant.
Meridian falls in Saturn star and Moon sub. Saturn is lord of
12th in 8th in Moon star and Kethu sub. Moon is lord of 6th and
posited in 6th along with Kethu. This is a weak disposition for
ruling but the deciding factor is the 10th sub lord Moon! She is
in Jupiter star Saturn sub. Jupiter is lord of 2-11 in Ascendant
whereas Saturn is in 8th in Moon star. Thus Moon is also
indicating 5-8-12 houses at sub level indicating that “Kiran
Kumar Reddy” is going to have tough time in ruling.
6-11 sub lord Rahu is in Jupiter sign and Kethu star. Jupiter in
Ascendant in own star. Kethu is in Mercury sign and conjoined
with Moon. Thus Rahu got mixed results and is like a cat on the
wall.
If we check the DBA lords we find that Jupiter-Saturn period is

till Apr-2012. Saturn as discussed earlier is weak hence Sri

CUSPAL INTERCEPTION:
AQUARIUS All Horoscopes as per normal

distribution will have 12 Cusps
distributed in 12 Signs under Equal
House System. However in KP the house
division will be based on Placidius
House division (Western method)
wherein the cusps/bhavas are not
evenly distributed. As per system a
bhava starts in a Sign and extends
upto the next Sign that is the
starting point of the next bhava.
Further in some of the cases the bhava
ends and next cusp/bhava starts in the
same Sign because the birth time is
near/end of Cusp in Placidius
House division two cusps may fall in

one Sign, in higher latitudes like
Ireland/Dublin/Finland 3 cusps may
fall in one Sign and consequently
another Sign may not get any Cusp. In
such cases some Signs would get more
than one Cusp/Bhava representation
consequently some Sign may not get any
portfolio.
Because of this cuspal interception the natural zodiac gets

modified with regard to bhavas in KP System. This would also result
in change in signification of the planets when compared to normal
distribution. Thus in all the 12 signs the Cuspal Interception is
possible.

In Cuspal Interception the peculiarity that either the Cusp may
go anticlockwise to the previous Sign or next Sign Clockwise
(e.g. Pisces Lagna II Cusp in Taurus Clockwise and V in Gemini
anti clockwise); In case of Pisces out of 7 Charts we could found
all the charts are in Clockwise as well as Anticlockwise. But in
one Chart Princess Alice who was born in Royal Palace London - II
cusp has entered into III sign Taurus and in the same chart VI
cusp entered back to Cancer (Leo to Cancer). In this chart at
higher Latitudes London (51N30) under Placidius house system one
cusp entered into next sign and in the same chart one cusp has
gone back to the previous sign. The native died due to diphtheria
in her 30+ though born in the family of British Royal Crown.
In normal distribution of cusps, KP gives wonderful predictions but
when coming to cuspal interception we have to modify some of the
rules for giving a accurate predictions.
During Anticlock direction cuspal shifting would lose its bhava

qualities by shifting the cusp to its 12th Sign, in Clockwise
direction the Cusp shifts to next Sign which is encouraging or
increasing like 2 is addition to 1. Normally in majority of charts
anticlockwise is more common except hardly one or two would be in
Clockwise direction in signs Aries to Virgo but when we see out of
our experience from Libra, now in this month Pisces are both
Clockwise and Anticlockwise also.

Eleventh Article was on Aquarius Ascendant was published in this

is taken up. The main characteristics of Ascendant are as follows:
1. Pisces sign Persons are generally of average height, sporting a
