Explanation:

General objectives that guide the activities and relationships of one state in its interactions
with other states are called foreign policy. The development of foreign policy is influenced by
domestic considerations, the policies or behavior of other states, or plans to advance specific
geopolitical designs.

Foreign policy dictates how a country will act with respect to other countries politically,
socially, economically, and militarily, and to a somewhat lesser extent, how it behaves
towards non-state actors. Foreign policy can also be known as international relations policy
or simply diplomacy.

Factors in foreign policy

1) National Security:

The goal of foreign policy is to ensure national and public security in co-operation with the
country's allies. The concept of security today refers not only to military, but also to social
and economic categories. Security is the path toward enhanced public welfare. To protect a
nation's borders and territories against invasion, or control by foreign powers is national
security. Also helps determine how the country can deals with other nations.

2) Free and Open Trade:

Maintaining trade with other nations and preserving access to necessary natural resources
have been basic goals of foreign policy. This is an absolute necessity for the all nations. In an
environment of globalization, foreign policy assumes an increasingly important role in
enhancing the competitiveness and welfare of the state and in pursuit of national economic
interests is based on the strategic. And internationally competitive business environment is
the foundation for the state's economic development.
3) World Peace:

It helps the nation to avoid outside conflicts and aids national security. The country tries to
help other nations settle disputes and has also supplied economic aid to at-risk countries, in
part to prevent uprising and revolutions.

4) Democratic Governments:

There should be democracy in country and helps others to create democratic political
systems, because with a politically strong nation/country every country wants to make good
and friendly relations.

5) Concern for Humanity:

In times of natural disasters or starvation crisis, the US has responded by providing food,
medial supplies, and technology assistance for humanitarian reasons. At the same time, this
aid serves the strategic interests of the country by maintaining political stability in the world

With ever-expanding globalization and integration in the world, the development and welfare
of each country and society are dependent directly on its ability to operate effectively at the
international level. The events of the past century have demonstrated the vast role of
democracy, the rule of law, human rights, national equality, peaceful co-existence and
solidarity in ensuring mutually advantageous co-operation.

6) Enhancing the state image and level of recognition:

A key component in the foreign policy is the popularization of the country's political,
economic, cultural, scientific and athletic achievements throughout the world. The
government's strategic guidelines in enhancing the level of the country's positive international
recognition therefore involve a varied and complex process of popularizing Latvia's image.

Culture is one of the main resources and most effective instruments in establishing a positive
image for the state. The external cultural policy is therefore of key importance in establishing
an integrated foreign policy.

CONCLUSION

The foreign policy of a country is the rules through which it establishes its relations with
other countries and these relations should be good and friendly relations. And this policy can
be changed due to domestic and international changes.
