Website Domain Names

 Use caution when using .edu, .gov, and .org websites.

 Even though these websites are strongly encouraged for students to use, you need to be aware
that even these websites may have biased information.
What can I do?

Link Check!

 Link checking is a “strategy for finding links embedded in a site” (Harper 2011, p. 176).

How to Link Check:

1. Enter http://google.com into your browser. You can also use the library catalogue for online
articles and other forms of online data.
2. Paste the website URL that was cited in the website that you evaluated from above.
3. Answer the questions below in the check list to evaluate the cited links.

 “The results [that] are retrieved are sites that are linked to the webpage being evaluated.
[This] [is] [an] excellent way to check validity of the site—especially when investigating topics
that may have inherent bias” (Harper p. 176).
