CHAPTER ONE
( The Company and its Background )

A. MISSION
1. Provide quality resources and services to meet the changing needs
of the community through the introduction of innovative techniques
for the advancement of learning and literacy.
2. Train and develop the staff to be equipped with the needed skills
and competencies and strive to be an innovator in public library
services.
3. Foster strong linkage and partnership among government and non-
government agencies both local and international.

B. VISSION
The QCPL envisions itself to be a catalyst in planning for community
development and in the continuous education of the people. It serves
as an impartial, non-partisan and non-sectarian agency of information.
Next to school, it is commonly called the People’s University

D. RULES AND POLICY
General Policies

1. Kindly sign in before entering the library premises.

2. All are requested to deposit their things/bags at the baggage counter


(Ordinance N. 1194, S-2002, Sec. 3).

3. Please observe proper attire while inside the library premises. Mini
shorts, miniskirt, sando or any revealing clothing are not allowed.

4. All books shall be restricted within the confines of the Quezon City
Public Library or its branches, except when such book are allowed for
home reading for those who have valid QCPL issued library ID card.

5. Vandalism/tampering/mutilating of the QCPL collections and other


library properties are strictly prohibited. Any person guilty of such act
will be banned to enter library premises or will be turned over to
proper authorities.

6. For security purposes, all deadly weapons are not allowed inside the
library premises. They must be deposited to the guard on duty upon
entering the library.

7. All bags/belonging should be submitted for inspection by the guard on


duty upon leaving the library premises.

8. All are advised to observe proper decorum while inside the library
premises

G. COMPANY HISTORY
Brief History

Quezon City Public Library (QCPL) was established on August 16, 1948,

and was inaugurated on October 23, 1948. However, upon its transfer

to its new building, it was re-inaugurated on February 6, 2017. It is

composed of a main library located in front of QC Hall of Justice and

18 branch libraries scattered all over Quezon City. The QCPL collection

is composed of 116, 078 volumes wherein the main library has 19,697

volumes of it and remaining 96, 381 volumes are distributed in its

different branch libraries, have a total of 76 computer stations for

Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), encoding and internet available

free of charge to QC residents
