The Difference Between IT & ICT
Defining IT

Information technology, or IT, is all about the collecting, processing and

sharing of information. The field of IT deals largely with the methods and
tools used in said collecting, processing and sharing. These methods
and tools include coding and programming, data conversion, means of
storage and retrieval, and system analysis and design, among others.
Defining ICT

As an extension of information technology, the field of information

communications technology includes everything that IT includes but
expands the scope. When dealing with ICT, computer science comes in to
play just as much as the collection, processing and sharing of data.
ICT puts an immediate emphasis on connective communication
technologies. This field hones in on the communications technology that
connects the IT world, specifically telecommunications. In the 21st century,
ICT is especially focused on how wireless signals and the internet drive
communication and enable the spread of data.
In general, IT refers to local information technologies, such as the worlds
of private business servers and customized information infrastructures
that keep corporations and governments operational on the tech side of
things. In contrast, ICT's tech is more expansive, with a greater focus on
outreach, community building and a desire to explore the ways in which
telecommunications can enrich society.

Social isolation is characterized by a lack of contact with other people in

normal daily living, such as, the with friends and in social activities. We
isolate ourselves walking around in our own little world, listening to our
iPods or staring at the screen of the latest mobile device even when we are
around other people.

Technology creates the perfect recipe for depression with the of human
contact, overeating and lack of exercise. There is a reason the use of
antidepressants are on the rise and the blame can’t be completely
dumped on the pharmaceutical companies. They aren’t carting people
into the doctor ’s office and force feeding them the pills. This isn’t to say
depression isn’t a real problem, but some people could cure their
depression by living a healthier lifestyle.
Poor Sleep Habits:
We get sucked into online activities that keep us up too late and the
constant stream of information can make it difficult to turn off our
brains. Also, the ambient glow from screens can affect the release of
melatonin, the sleep chemical. Keeping technology out of the bedroom
would be a very habit to acquire.
Security:

Data or files must always be kept secure and safe. The internet
connection must always be safeguarded from different attacks such as
modification, identity/IP address spoofing, password-based attacks.

Computers should also be protected from various forms of viruses and
malware which are released almost every day.
Education

No nation can develop without ICT based education. It is regarded as the fuel
of development. ICT based education is the essential ingredient in developing
new ideas, in course content and curriculum and in the creation of materials
and methods of learning and teaching. Students need ICT for pursuing
academic studies; teachers need ICT based information for teaching.
Communication

ICT plays an important role to develop the system of communication. It has

linked up the district Parts of the world. The present systematic and
developed communication mediums such as telephone, fax , telegram, e-mail,
cellular phone etc. are the results of ICT. They have decreased our time,
distance and made the world closer to us.
Scientific-Exploration

The proliferation of information and communication technology is

increasing day by day. By the help of ICT, the scientists have been
able to invent new inventions such as computer, cable TV , the
rocket by which men have landed on moon, mars and are trying to
live there. Thus ICT is playing a vital role in exploring and inventing
new scientific inventions.
Military-Force

To protect any country from the attack of enemies, a strong and well
organized military force is a must. ICT plays as a key role to strong and
organized the military force of any country by providing real information.
So , it is an important component for the military sector.
Economic-Structure

Strong economical structure is the key for the development of any country.
Mainly, ICT handle the economical structure of any country now a days. It
strengthens the economy by providing proper knowledge about the
economy of the developed countries. Thus, ICT can play an important factor
for establishing a strong economy.
Recreation

ICT has given us a number of recreational components , such as television ,

radio, tape recorder , V.C.R, D.V.D, Mp3, gramophone, etc. by which we
pass our leisure sitting in our own place.
Transportation

ICT plays a significant role in our transport field. It has decreased the
distance of place, saved our valuable time and established easy
transporting. so we can travel hundreds of miles within a very short time,
send goods any where swiftly. All of this facilities are the gift of ICT.
Knowledge-Management

ICT has made more easier to process knowledge and disseminate

knowledge to the users. It has increased the efficiency of the
knowledge professionals in organizing and managing knowledge.

• PLAGIARISM
It is an act of theft in which a person copies another person’s ideas, words, or

• EXPLOITATION
It is an action in which one deals with a person dishonestly, unethically, and
dishonorably, in order to take advantage of the latter’s work and/or resources.3
• LIBEL
It can either be an insult, slur, or slander. Either written or spoken or even
through actions, it may lead to libel if the accusation is not true and without any
piece of evidence.
• SOFTWARE PIRACY
It refers to an act of installing or copying a software into the computer in the
absence of an end-user licensing agreement(EULA), and/or producing a copy
disregarding the copyrights.
