TEST PROCEDURE

I MAIN TRANSFORMER

A MEASUREMENT OF INSULATION RESISTANCE

i. All primary terminals shorted together.
ii. All secondary terminals shorted together.
iii. I.R.value is measured with DC Megger, between
a. Primary and Earth + Secondary.
b. Secondary and Earth + Primary
c. Primary and secondary.

B HIGH VOLTAGE TEST.

a. FOR PRIMARY WINDING.

i All primary terminals shorted together.
ii. All secondary terminals shorted together and connected to earth.
iii. Specified KV is applied to H.V. Side and Earth.
iv. Unit shall withstand the applied high voltage for 60 seconds.
b. FOR SECONDARY WINDING.
i. All primary terminals shorted together and connected to earth.
ii. All secondary terminals shorted together.
iii. Specified KV is applied between the secondary and earth.
iv Unit shall withstand the applied high voltage for 60 seconds.

C. NO LOAD LOSS MEASUREMENT (By Secondary Excitation)

a. Variable source is connected to Primary winding.

b. Secondary windings are kept open.
c. Apply 415V to Primary Terminals.
Measure:-
d. i. No Load Current.
ii. No Load Losses.

D. INDUCED OVER VOLTAGE TEST

Variable voltage and variable frequency source is connected to primary

i.
winding.
ii. Secondary windings are kept open.
Apply 2 x 415V at 2 x 50 Hz to primary Terminals for 60 seconds. Unit shall
iii.
withstand the applied voltage.

E LOAD LOSS MEASUREMENT
a. For Transformer
I The primary of the transformer is connected to Variable source.
Ii Secondary terminals are shorted.
Iii Rated current is passed through the primary winding.
Iv Measure primary voltage, current, losses.

F VOLTAGE RATIO MEASUREMENT.

a. Rated Voltage is applied across primary winding.
b. Voltage is measured across secondary winding.

G WINDING RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT

Primary winding resistance will be measured at ambient temperature with
a.
micro ohm meter.
Secondary winding resistance will be measured at ambient temperature with
b.
micro ohm meter.

II RECTIFIER

A. MEASUREMENT OF I.R. AND H.V.TEST

i. All electronic cards, meters are isolated.
ii. All live terminals are shorted together.
Insulation resistance is measured between the live terminals and earth with
iii.
the help of Megger.
Specified high voltage is applied between the live terminals and earth for 60
iv
seconds with the help of H.V. Tester.
v. Unit shall withstand the applied high voltage for 60 seconds.

III. SYSTEM LOSS MEASUREMENT

i. The rectifier is connected to Transformer.
ii. Rectifier positive and –ve shorted.
iii. Rated / test DC current is adjusted with controller.
iv Losses at rated current are measured and recorded.
