COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the course is to impart knowledge with regard to business ethics,
corporate governance and corporate social responsibility of companies. The nature of the
course is to give right exposure to concerns and expectations of various stakeholders in
the context of large scale industrial change due to globalization. Opportunities for career
progression can happen when there is application of ethical values in everything that one
does, which means maintaining transparency and being socially responsible. The course
will equip the students with conceptual skills of ethical theories and ethical decision
making in the contest of organizational functioning and gives a comprehensive idea of
corporate social responsibility in the interest of sustainability of planet for future
generations and also gives an understanding of various corporate frauds, scams and
suggest remedies for the same. The course also deals with the concepts of corporate
governance , the theories and practices of corporate governance and deliberates as the
various models of corporate governance around the world.

COURSE OUTCOMES: On successful completion of the course the students shall be able
to:

CO 2. Comply ethics in the global environment in which the organizations are functioning.
CO 3. Outline the importance of ethics – in business management.
CO 4. Recognize and understand the global perspectives of CSR, the corporate social

COURSE CLEARANCE CRITERIA:


Individual Writing Assignments: It will be graded on content and personal insights and on the
basis of grammar and spelling. You are required to follow APA format for any referencing.
Group Project and Group Project Reaction: You will be expected to do group projects, which
will involve working with your peers outside of class and culminate with a paper and an oral
presentation. The group project reaction will give you a chance to apply what you have learned
about Management to your experience in doing the group project. Written assignments are due at
the beginning of class on the due date. Guidelines for team assignments will be given in the class
Make-ups: Make-up of exams, quizzes, and papers may be allowed at professors discretion, but
only under extremely moderating circumstances and only when professor is informed in advance
of the exam, quiz, or assignment due date. There will be no make-up of the presentation.
Attendance & Punctuality: Attendance and getting to class on time are expected. Students who
are regularly late, absent, and/or leave class before the end of the class meeting tend to perform
poorly in this course. Please let the professor know if you can't make it to class. Attendance at all
group presentations is mandatory; unexcused absence will result in a reduction of the student’s
group presentation score.
Academic Honesty: Academic honesty is expected. Willful plagiarism, cheating and other
forms of academic dishonesty will result in failure of the course, and disciplinary action from the
University
Contribution to the Class: Expect students to contribute to the class by, attending class and
being in class on time and staying in class for the entire class meeting being prepared for class
asking questions, especially if something is unclear participating in class discussions and
exercises taking initiative and performing their share of work on group assignments seeking help
when needed, behaving in a professional, courteous manner.
Cell Phones & Other Personal Communication Devices: To avoid disrupting class activities,
you are required to turn off your cell phone, etc., before entering class. No text messaging, web
surfing, or emailing during class. As per the University regulations, cell phones will be
confiscated if found using inside the University buildings.
A minimum attendance of 75% is mandatory for the students to write the End Term Exam.
