ROBINSONS SUGA SA PASKWA AWARDS BEST INMATES PAROL

Robinsons Place Bacolod in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and
Penology (BJMP) Negros Island Region held the 10th Robinsons Suga sa Paskwa
BJMP Inmates Parol Making Contest Awarding Ceremony on December 15, 2016
at the Fountain Area of Robinsons Place Bacolod. The Contest which was once
only to 19 Negros Occidental Jails, has now expanded to include the 11 jails from
Negros Oriental.

Criteria for selecting the Best Parol includes; Indigenous materials used, the
craftsmanship, the lights in the parol and the description of the parol that will suit
and contemplate the life of inmates inside the jail. The judges of the said
competition are no less than famous designers and artists from Bacolod city.

Every entry has their Parol wrapped in rich vibrant Lights coupled with it’s their
local materials-Craftsmanship, it gave the judges the difficulty to ascertain the
Best from the rest.

After some laboring in selecting the best, the judges selected San Carlos City
District Jail’s entry as the champion for the 2016 Robinsons Suga sa Paskwa
Contest. The champion jail unit received P20,000.00 as cash prize. Just some
points behind are Sipalay City District Jail as 1st runner up with P15,000.00, Metro
Bacolod District Jail Female Dorm as 2nd runner up with P10,000.00, Talisay City
Jail as 3rd runner up with P7,000.00, Canlaon City Jail as 4th runner up with
P5,000.00, Negros Occidental District Jail as 5th runner up with P3,000.00, La
Carlota City District Jail as 6th runner up with P2,500.00, Dumaguete City District
Jail Male Dorm as 7th runner up, Bayawan City District Jail as 8th runner up and
Escalante City district Jail as 9th runner, all with P2,000.00 as cash prize. Other Jails
received certificates and consolation prizes worth P1,500.00 each.

No other than the Regional Director of BJMP RO NIR, JSSUPT HERNAN G GRANDE
who spearheaded the event and personally gave the awards to the winning
parols. Ms. Chona Gosiaoco, the head Coordinator of the activity expects that
with the inclusion of the Oriental jails, the future competition will be even stiffer
one.
