1. Do your lesson plans contain all essential elements? What are these
elements? What do you do to consider the learner’s needs and capacity,
available resources, and your teaching skills?
I do think that my lesson plan has all the essential elements that
should be there to ensure that the class would learn the lessons that I have
taught. I make sure that I have clear and purposeful objectives where my
students are expected to do throughout the lesson. I also consider the
things, materials and texts that I will use. I check if I have the right materials
to use to obtain my objectives. Also, I used texts that are appropriate with
the lesson and the student’s capacity where the class could really absorb
the messages of the texts within the time that we have. After securing the
two, I would go to the lesson where the information is given and analyzed.
I would usually let the students explore the texts that I give and impart their
thoughts about it then, I would connect it with the lesson so they will have
a real life connection with the facts that they will learn. After the discussion,
I put activities so that they can apply what they have learned. It will be in a
written form or performance and I make sure that it is really in-line with the
lesson. After that is an evaluation where I can really evaluate if they really
have learned.
To consider my learner’s needs and capacity I would first consider
the English Curriculum Guide since it was based on the capacity of the
students and the things that they really have to learn. Also, since I didn’t
have the opportunity to observe them first before teaching, I used my
experience from Field Study. I was also oriented by my CT on what to
expect, like their attitude in learning. During the class, I observe them, their

likes and dislike, how they participate and who participates. I also apply
different activities to see what would really fit them in my future plans. To
consider the resources, I usually look in the internet as well as on the
books that was given to me. Internet is a really good source for the different
texts that I introduce to the class and the books have good activities that
are suited for the lesson and the student’s capacity. With the facts that I
teach, I usually mix both resources because books sometimes lack
information and internet is very complex or the words and details are too
much for one class, so I use what I deem fit according to the competency
in the Curriculum Guide. To consider my teaching skills, I would really have
to review and look back to the things and techniques that I have learned
in school. I would remember what really made me understand the lessons
so that I could also use that in teaching my students. I learn through the
books given to me and I ask advice from my CT on what to do and how to
do it since she is more experienced. I really practice the teaching part and
how to deliver the facts so that I could give clear instructions and my
students will learn from me.
2. How do you ensure that your learning activities are relevant to the topic?
What factors do you consider?
To ensure that my activities are relevant to the topic, I use texts and
materials that are relatable and that it could connect to the lesson. It should
be fun since the students are still young and are motivated with things that
they will like. Students should also be the one to do or create their learning
on the activities so they will be the ones to discover the value of it and
connect it to the lesson for the day. The activities should also connect to
what the students have already known. They should have a clue as to what
they will be doing so that they can guess or connect it to the topic. With
this, they will find the activity worthwhile and very informative while they
are having fun.
