3.0 Research Method

3.1 Research Design
The researchers used qualitative type of research specifically phenomenological study.
According to N Nayab (2011) Qualitative research is a method of inquiry that gives emphasis on
the “why" and “how" of things rather than the “what," “where" and “when" of things. It provides
a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the subject. Qualitative research is a systematic
application of a predetermined set of procedures that involves collection and analyzation of
evidences, and present findings in order to solve issues. Qualitative research aims to gain an
understanding only on the particular studied rather than to generalize, or to use the data to support
hypothesis. And it focuses on understanding behaviour rather than predicting.
Phenomenology is the study of structures of consciousness as experienced from the first-
person point of view. The central structure of an experience is its intentionality, its being directed
toward something, as it is an experience of or about some object. An experience is directed
toward an object by virtue of its content or meaning (which represents the object) together with
appropriate enabling conditions (Smith, David Woodruff, 2013).

3.2 Research Locale

The study was conducted in NCR particularly in Marikina City where the respondents
were enjoying the place because of its attractiveness. Since this study is focus on the shared
experience of the customers who enjoyed the place, it is highly recommended to conduct the
interview session inside the Secret Base.

3.3 Key-Informant Selection

In this study, the researchers chose the participants by going to Secret Base and asked
some of the customers about their experienced while they’re on the place. It would help to have a
precise result in the study. The researchers selected the respondents based on following criteria’s:
1) Customers who go to Secret Base more often; 2) Ages from 13 to 19 and 3) Customers who
are avid fan of anime and Online Games.

3.4 Ethical Consideration

Ethical Consideration is one of the most important part of research. This is to ensure that
the respondents are treating fairly and responsibly. Researchers informed the respondents about
all the obligation and responsibilities involved in research.
In this study, for the satisfaction of respondents, the researchers provide the following
principles: (1) Principle of Respect that recognizes the participant’s rights to make decision and
its dignity. (2) Principle of Beneficence to ensure to minimize the risk of respondents physically,
psychologically and socially and to make sure that they informed about the study. (3) Principle of
Justice ensures the right treatment to the participants.

3.5 Research Instrument

The researchers used semi-structured interview as guide which consist of 3 questions that
are related to the topic and this will be answered by 20 respondents. This will help the researchers
to get some important information and to have a deeper understanding about the lived
experienced of the customers in the Secret Base. The interviewer used mobile phone as their
medium to record the answer of the interviewee. The researchers transfer the audio-recording
interview into text. The text will be a big help for analysis and interpretation of data.

3.6 Data Collection

The researchers looked for the respondents by going to the place which is Secret Base
and get 20 respondents and interview them to gather the information needed. The interviewer
used mobile phone to record the answer to the 3 questions provided by researchers for the
preciseness of the study.

3.7 Data Analysis

The researchers analyzed the data by understanding how the respondents answer the
questions prepared by the interviewer their opinions and personal experienced while enjoying the

Secret Base place located in Marikina City. Their delicious foods and games that will surely
likened by the customers. In addition, the good ambiance that the Secret Base has posses. Enabled
to the researchers to know the experienced of the respondents audio-recording was used and it
transcribed into words to better analyze the data.
