2. INTRODUCTION:

This Advisory Wire (AW) is to inform operators of aircraft equipped with L3 EFB CrewMate 840 Display Unit
(DU) of a temporary shipment stoppage to the device and battery.

3. DESCRIPTION:

The Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack Part Number (PN) 011-E4860-01, used for the L3 EFB DU PN
N01A100002, must comply with a new shipping regulation. A Test Summaries (TS) has become a mandatory
requirement and manufacturers and subsequent distributors of cells or batteries shall make available the TS
for shippers to comply. L3Harris informed Bombardier via the SIL (Ref 1.1) that the unit has not been tested
to these new requirements. L3Harris is in the process of having the TS completed on the unit.
Consequently, Bombardier temporary stopped shipping the EFB CrewMate 840 and the battery. In addition,
Service Bulletins (Ref 1.2) are on hold until the situation is resolved.

4. ACTION:

Should you experience a battery failure, the DU can be operated without the battery pack following instructions
provided in SIL EFB 001 (Ref. 1.3). In situations where the battery is removed, the DU can be used in the
docking station or with the A/C adapter. It’s important to note that the DU must be fully shut down (turn off)
before aircraft power is turned off and/or when it is removed from the docking station or AC adapter.

This AW will be updated once L3Harris will provide the TS to Bombardier.
