Music – Leong Jia Er

A very good morning to my fellow friends, teachers and judges. Today, on this fine morning, I would like
to present to you a public speech about ‘Music’.
Music. We hear it every day. No matter where we are, music will always be played either on the
radio or just by humming a tune. Did you know that music started as early as the Paleolithic era? So music
is about 200 000 years old. Wow! It’s so old. Still people enjoy listening to this ‘old’ art for nearly 200
millenniums.
The elements needed to produce music are pitch, rhythm and dynamics. The pitch is the
combination of melody and harmony. Rhythm is the beat of the music. Dynamics are the volume. At first
the song starts soft then it gradually starts to get loud. Suddenly there’s an accent and everything settles
down and dies away.
The music genre is generally endless. It ranges from Acapella to Fusion jazz. The most popular
genres that we hear nowadays are pop, dominated by the late King of Pop, Micheal Jackson. Rock,
conquered by Elvis Presley. Punk, played by bands like Green Day and Paramore. But the only thing I can’t
deny is that the most popular genre right now is K-pop. Boy bands like BTS and girl groups such as
Blackpink are examples of artists who gets involve in K-pop. Boys and girls are going nuts over the artists.
Through music and the lyrics, a massage could be passed through. Moral values could also be found
in them. Some song lyrics contain impolite words which should be avoided as it could contaminate the
thought. Motivating songs could boost and motivate anyone who listens to it.
Music is written theoretically and made real practically. It lives in every one of us. Music is like an
international language. Even though we do not understand the lyrics but we understand the melody, the
rhythm and the harmony. Everything starts small. In music, it starts with a note. Then, a tune. After that,
a rhythm and a melody. Finally, a harmonious song that unites everyone disregarding the race or the
background or whatever at all was born. Music unites the souls of Malaysia and the world. Guess what!
We enjoy it!
Thank you.
´FRIENDSHIP ´ - Aliyah
Good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. I am standing here to
deliver a speech about FRIENDSHIP.
Firstly, let me ask all of you, WHAT IS FRIENDSHIP? Well ,friendship consists of true friends that
can make you laugh when skies are the darkest. True friends that will even hurt you only if it’s for your
own good, friends that will protect you under any circumstances and friends that will make you feel like
you are on the top of the world when you are feeling crushed to the ground.
My fellow audiences, Have you ever noticed that when a friend is happy, you find yourself happy
too, even when it has nothing to do with you? A true friend is like a mirror. Do you know why ? its because
they reflect yourself .When I say that, I mean by emotionally, spiritually and many more. When you’re
happy, they’re happy and when you’re sad, they’re feeling pretty much the same way you’re feeling too.
People today, in this new era of technology and moderncy have lost sight of what a true friendship
is. Friends do not have to be exactly the same, I mean, come on, friends do have similarities but they also
have their differences. The key to opening up the world of friendship is not just to focus on the similarities
but to accept each other’s faults because true friends do not judge each other. Friends love
unconditionally. They do have their little angry moments from time to time but at the end of the day all
is forgiven and forgotten. As quoted by Oscar Wilde, "Anybody can sympathize with the sufferings of a
friend but it requires a very fine nature to sympathize with friend’s success.
True friends are very rare to find but once you’ve found them, don’t let them go because not
everyone has true friends even if they’re popular and famous. I hope all of you as my audience get the
true meaning of friends because its wonderful to be with such amazing friends. Thank you.
Pollution - Howard
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, and my fellow friends. I am standing
here to deliver my words about ‘Pollution’. Please lend me your ears friends.
As we know, pollution is one of the biggest environmental problems but still many people do not
take pollution problem seriously as they should be. Environmental pollution comes in various forms, such
as: air pollution and water pollution. Many people still think that we can dump our garbage all over the
planet without any consequences which is not true. Since the start of industrial revolution, we have been
continuously heavily polluting our planet, caring only for economic development, and not caring at all for
the health of environment we live in.
Levels of air, sea, and water pollution are extremely high, and are constantly growing because
industry isn’t letting go. The main sources of pollution are definitely industry and vehicles. Heavy pollution
not only makes our environment ugly but is also the source of many diseases that is taking many human
lives year after year. As humans, we have the responsibility to prevent the pollution. Everyone has
their responsible as we are all inhabitants of this one and only mother earth. Each person has something
to contribute preventing pollution. Environmental protection is caring for ourselves, loving our children
and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
You and I should therefore accept personal responsibility for the success of the environmental
protection programs of our respective community by cooperating and actively participating in making the
atmosphere pollution free. Everyone can help by self-education and by adopting good and healthy
practices. It is also important that we help raise awareness about the significance of environmental issues,
their dire consequences and what can be done. Consequently, let us think about this phrase “If there are
no pollutants, there will be no pollution. With that, I thank you
How To Lead A Healthy Life

A very good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. I am standing here
today to deliver a speech entitled “How To Lead A Healthy Life”.
What is healthy living? According to Webster Dictionary, healthy living is living a life without
having to worry about diseases and body size. To obtain healthy living is not easy. We have to work hard
to get it. There are several ways one can lead a healthy life. Among the ways are having a proper diet,
having enough sleep, having enough exercise and also a proper time management.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Our diet should follow the food pyramid. We should eat sufficient carbohydrates such as rice,
bread and noodles. We must eat plenty of vitamins such as fruits and vegetables. We should also eat
proteins such as fish, meat and chicken, but in moderation. We shouldn’t eat fatty and greasy foods such
as junk food, butter and margarine. If we follow this diet effectively, we will get a lot of good and
rewarding benefits.
Another way that we should practice is eating at the right time. Breakfast is important because it
gives us energy to start a fresh day. If we do not have breakfast in the morning, we will feel very tired and
sleepy. In fact, some cultures advocate breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Without a proper
breakfast, our concentration span will also reduce, thus making us unable to comprehend what is taught
in class.
We should get enough sleep every day. An average child needs at least 8 hours of sleep. For
example, if we wake up at 6am, we should sleep at 10pm every night. What will happen if we do not get
enough sleep? Well, for sure we will feel very sleepy and unable to understand what is taught in class.
We must get enough exercise time every day. We should exercise because when we sweat, the
fats in our bodies will break. If we do not exercise, we will become obese and this may lead to various
lifestyle diseases such as heart attack and diabetes. Our exercise routine should consist of a variety of
activities such as running, games like football and basketball and also physical exercise such as tennis and
swimming so that we don’t get bored with the same activities.
If you follow my suggestions to lead a healthy life, I am sure we can build a healthier Malaysia.
Thank you for lending me your ears.
The Advantages of Reading – Hadrel, Rizky
Good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. I am standing here to
deliver a speech about The Advantages of Reading.
We always think only one question, what is the advantage of reading? There are many reasons
people should read. People should read because it helps them to improve in English. It helps them to be
a better reader and it helps people get better jobs. For these reasons people should read books.
First of all, Reading helps people to learn English and improve in English. For example, there are
many words we don’t know so when we read a book, we learn these words. If we don’t know the meaning
of the word we are going to write it and then look it up in the dictionary, which helps us to learn new word
and meaning of the word.
In addition, reading helps people to get a better reader. Also reading is one way that helps you to
write a better essay. For example, when you read a book, it helps you to get new ideas and when you get
new ideas you can use all these ideas and write a better essay.
Reading helps you get a good job. For instance, if want to get a good job you have to read better
because if you get good job there are many things you have to read aloud in front of other people. So if
you can’t read, they are not going to hire you.
In conclusion, I think reading is very important. We have to read, otherwise we can’t succeed in
the future. Reading is very important. If we don’t read books we can’t learn better English, if we don’t
learn English we can’t get better job. Many people think that reading is not so important. I think they
should think more. Thank you.
