Procedures for Applying

to the Professional Practice Program

1. Fulfill the academic requirements for the program.

• Have a 2.8 G.P.A. or higher (does not include AP, CLEP, or transferred credits). Inform your Faculty
Coordinator at the Callout Meeting if your G.P.A. is between 2.8 and 3.0.
• Engineering Students: Be on track to complete the Freshman Engineering core requirements before your
first work session.

2. Complete the on-line Professional Practice Student Application no later than Thursday, January 14,
2010 by 12:00 midnight.

To access the Professional Practice Student Application, click on the following link:
www.purdue.edu/ProPractice/Programs/HowToApply/index.html. Then under Step 2, click on Click here
on the Co-Op application and read through the agreement. At the bottom of the page click on “Apply to
become a Professional Practice student”. When the box appears for your Username and Password, type your
Purdue ID number for both the Username and the Password (no dashes). Problems accessing: Use Internet
Explorer or Safari as your web browser.

Partial information is already entered into our on-line form. Complete the remaining fields and modify as needed.
By submitting the on-line Professional Practice Student Application, you agree to the terms and conditions of the
program. However, submitting the application doesn’t commit you to participation in the program. You can
decide whether to follow through AFTER receiving more details at the callout. The Co-Op resume can be
completed after the callout.

For Engineering Students: Choose your major from the list below and select it from the pull-down list on your
application. This major will be your future area of study (referred to as “discipline”) and will be the area in which
you interview for Co-Op positions. You must indicate this choice on your application!!!

Note: Only the 3-Session Co-Op program is currently available for BME.

Please remember...

• Engineering students must choose a major before the Callout Meeting.


• You must complete the on-line Professional Practice Student Application by 12:00 midnight on January 14th.
• Doors close promptly at 7:00 pm. Arrive early!!!
• It is a breach of ethics to accept Co-Op employment without the intention of completing the full program.
• Faculty Coordinators are assigned to assist you in the Co-Op process. You should utilize this valuable resource.
