4. Design Stipulation of Concrete as per IS: 10262 - 2009, IS:456-2000 & MoR&TH 4 th Rev.
1. Characteristic Compressive strength of concrete at 28 days = 40 N/mm 2 As per IS: 456 – 2000
2. Target mean strength at 28 days of concrete =52.0 N/mm2 As per MORT&H (4th Revn)
3. Characteristic Flexural strength at 28 days = 4.43 N/mm2
4. Type of cement : OPC 43 Gr. Conforming to IS:8112-1989
5. Maximum size of aggregate 20mm graded angular Conforming to IS : 383 – 1970
6. Fine aggregate Zone – II Conforming to IS: 383 – 1970
7. Degree of Quality control = Good
8. Concrete workbaility (Slump) 30 ± 15 mm
9. Cement Content = Minimum 350 Kg/m3 and miximum 425 kg/m3
(d) Determination of volume of coarse aggregate & Fine aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate :
As per Table-3 of IS:10262-2009, volume of coarse aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate
= 0.62 (for sand zone –II, coarse aggregates 20mm & W/C is 0.5
But W/C = 0.40
So decreases in W/C = 0.10
For decrease in W/C, the increase of volume of coarse aggregate
= (0.10 x 0.01)/0.05 = 0.02
For W/C of 0.50, volume of coarse aggregate per unit vol.of total aggregate = 0.62
Therefore, increase vol. of coarse aggregates = 0.640
And volume of fine aggregate per unit vol. of total aggregate = 0.360
i. Volume of concrete = 1 m3
7.0 Calculation of cement, sand and coarse aggregates in kg/cum (Trial Mix-II)
(d) Determination of volume of coarse aggregate & Fine aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate :
As per Table-3 of IS:10262-2009, volume of coarse aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate
= 0.62 (for sand zone –II, coarse aggregates 20mm & W/C is 0.5
But W/C = 0.39
So decreases in W/C = 0.11
For decrease in W/C, the increase of volume of coarse aggregate
= (0.11 x 0.01)/0.05 = 0.022
For W/C of 0.50, volume of coarse aggregate per unit vol.of total aggregate = 0.62
Therefore, increase vol. of coarse aggregates = 0.642
And volume of fine aggregate per unit vol. of total aggregate = 0.358
i. Volume of concrete = 1 m3

(d) Determination of volume of coarse aggregate & Fine aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate :
As per Table-3 of IS:10262-2009, volume of coarse aggregate per unit volume of total aggregate
= 0.62 (for sand zone –II, coarse aggregates 20mm & W/C is 0.5
But W/C = 0.38 2.125
So decreases in W/C = 0.12 0.0861486486
For decrease in W/C, the increase of volume of coarse aggregate
= (0.12 x 0.01)/0.05 = 0.024
For W/C of 0.50, volume of coarse aggregate per unit vol.of total aggregate = 0.62
Therefore, increase vol. of coarse aggregates = 0.644
And volume of fine aggregate per unit vol. of total aggregate = 0.356
i. Volume of concrete = 1 m3
