Abstract. Our research shows that the problem of the formation of mathematical modeling skills in teaching
students is relevant in many countries. A key role in the process of formation of mathematical modeling
skills in teaching students is assigned to a special task system. The article offers specific examples of applied
problems taken from a specially created bank of copyright problems. It is concluded that the formation of the
competence of school graduates in mathematical modeling is one of the main tasks a teacher of mathematics.
Keywords: mathematical modeling, modeling skill, applied problem, competence formation, problem
solving technique.
