ISSN REFLECTION

The purpose of the project for my precalculus class was to investigate the cost of cars and

make a final prediction weather to purchase a new car or an used car. The car that I chose was a

Nissan 370z Coupe. When I got the project I felt confused because I really didn’t understand the

first step of the project or even how to start it. Since this project was in groups of two, me and

my partner had a totally different style of cars. A goal that I had for myself was to complete the

work on time and be able to understand the the requirements that are needed to be answered. I

also set a goal with my partner to have communication with one another and even help each

other when we get stuck on the question that is being required.

For this project, we had to pick three cars. It does not matter what kind of cars you

choose, they had to be three cars. At the beginning of the project I was really confused and I

really didn't understand the assignment because there was not much information. In order to get

the cost of my car that I have chosen we used the Kelly Blue book, it was my first time using the

Kelly Book I was unfamiliar with the Website. The Kelly Blue Book had all kinds of cars and it

had from new cars to used cars. The next step, from the instruction, was to create a scatter plot

with the information I had gathered from the Kelly Blue Book. While using the excel program I

sort out the used cars prices from the Nissan 370z from the brand new year of the car. After

sorting out the my data I had to come up with an equation from the scatter plot and the rate of the

graph. At the end of the powerpoint I answered the question from that were given to answer and

make a conclusion of the cars.

I have learned that the Nissan 370z coupe with zero miles is really expensive but it's

worth buying. Something else that I have learned was that as the years passed the value of the car

decreases but it also depends on the car miles. Something that I have learned from myself was

when it came to the Kelly Blue Book and when I was navigated I got really frustrated because I

could find my specific car that I needed. An area of improvement that the teacher needs to

improve is giving examples and information. I am proud that I was able to meet the goal that I

had set up for myself and even to turn in on time. I am disappointed that my parents left

everything at the last mintinye to complete the project.

I investigated the world by using the Kelly Blue Book and compared the prices when as

the years. Something else that I have invested in is the miles of the car and the importances of the

color of the car. Not only did I investigate the world, I also communicated ideas with my partner

and how to make the graph. I communicated ideas with my teacher when we didnt the

instructions and were able to understand.
