Does the inability to go outside the room accentuate the behavior of psychiatric patients?

EVALUATING RESEARCH PROBLEMS

1) Significance of the Problem-ok na

2) Researchability of the Problem-ok na
3) Feasibility of Addressing the Problem-

a. Time/Timing- ok na

b. Availability of Study Participants-Yes psychiatric patients are available in mental

institutions. The research will only require minimal demands so people may
cooperate with the study of the problem. However, if our research exceeds the
time we’ve allotted or did not meet the desired deadlines for completion of
samples, we, researchers are willing to exert extra effort in recruiting participants
(for example, we may offer incentives)

c. Cooperation of others-Since our subjects for this study are solely can be obtained
from institutional settings (hospitals), we are in need to ask for authorization from
personnel involved to gain access to clients and other members.

d. Facilities and Equipments-For embarking this project, we’ll try our best to
complete the tools needed to accomplish our research. Videocams or audiotapes
will be needed and we’ll make sure that they are functioning. Telephones and
mobile numbers are required for communication. Since we are 12 in the group,
we’ll assign members who have the needed apparatus (e.g. recorders).

e. Money-Most of our members have Internet access, printers, laptops, computer

disks and USBs in their houses; books and journals are available in our school
library. For the funds, we’ll try to find ways on how we can accumulate money by
selling CDs containing Nursing-related skills or by selling candies etc.

f. Researcher Experience-A few of our members have experiences regarding

research (summer class in English Subject). Since most of us are beginners, we’ll
try our best to adjust and expand our methodologic skills.

g. Ethical Consideration-Since we have already discussed about the rights of human

or animal subjects in our Bioethics Class (last sem), we’ll try to review and go
over this topic again. We’ll try to brainstorm and instill in our minds these rights
for us to avoid harm on our subjects.

4) Researcher Interest-We are interested to go on board with this problem. We’re

curious to know what will happen to psychiatric patients, when restricted to go out of
their room. Will it cause them harm? Will their condition be more aggravated or will
they become better? If these questions are answered positively, then this will help in
rendering quality and human care to patients.
