EMERGENCY CHECKLIST

REQUIREMENTS CHECK
1. If safe to do so, verify source of alarm while in radio contact with the Duty
Officer, Bridge or Master – do not risk injury
2.
Sound emergency alarm and muster crew
3. Close fire doors, shut off ventilation and dampers, isolate electrical supplies –
positive reporting required
4. Passengers mustered & counted & suitable clothed (remember announcements
for reassurance) – interior crew to monitor
5.
Identify missing Guests or Crew / injuries
6.
Distribute duties as per muster list – prepare 1st Aid equipment
7.
Manoeuvre the yacht to alleviate the condition if possible
8.
Develop a fire control / search plan and establish entry control
9. Display navigation lights / shapes, illuminate deck areas, especially muster &
entry control points
10.
Commence boundary cooling according to the fire control plan
11.
Request assistance with voice radio or DSC call
12.
Identify nearest landing point or safe haven
13.
Establish communications with entry control, Master / Bridge and Fire Team
14.
Deploy Fire Team according to the fire control / casualty search plan
15. Fire Team to plan exit prior to whistle time, re-entry dependant on spare or
refilled BA cylinders
16.
Fire Team debrief by entry control and report to Master / Bridge
17.
Administer 1st Aid to recovered casualties, set fire watch and ventilate
18.
Prepare LSAs and Abandon Ship procedures if situation untenable
