COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING NCII REVIEWER

COC 1: Installing and Configuring Computer System ( 2 hours )

1. Disassembly / assembly
2. Create Bootable USB flash drive
a. Insert your USB flash drive to your running computer.
b. Run Command Prompt as Administrator. To do this, we need to find cmd by typing ‘cmd’
in the search box on Windows Start Menu. After search result for ‘cmd’ appears, right
click on it and select “Run Administrator”
c. Type ‘Diskpart”’ and hit enter. Wait fo a while until the DISKPART program run.
d. TYPE ‘List Disk’ to view active disks on your computer and hit Enter. There would be seen
that the active disks shown as Disk 0 for hard drive and Disk 1 for your USB flash drive
with its total capacity.
e. Type ‘Select Disk 1’ to determine that Disk 1 would be processed in the next step then hit
Enter.
f. Type ‘clean’ and hit Enter to remove all of data in the drive.
g. Type ‘create partition primary’ and hit Enter. Creating a primary partition and further
recognized by Window as ‘partition 1’.
h. Type ‘select partition 1’ and hit Enter. Choosing ‘partition 1’ for setting up it as an active
partition.
i. Type ‘active’ and hit Enter. Activating current partition.
j. Type format fs=ntfs QUICK and hit Enter. Formatting current partition as NTFS file system
quickly. Type Assign
k. Type ‘exit’ and hit Enter. Leaving DISKPART program but don’t close the Cmd instead.
3. Part 2: insert CD/DVD with Server 2008 in drive E, type E: cd boot
4. E: \boot>bootsect.exe/nt60 f:( f is where flash drive is inserted)
5. Copy the files from cd Server 2008 to the flash drive to install Server 2008
6. Select boot priority (USB drive)
7. Install 2008 server

COC 2: Set up Network Networks ( 2 hours )

1. Network Cabling (Straight through)

a. Configure router
 SSID / Password
 Mac Filtering
b. Cmd
 Ipconfig
 Ping ( Server and Client )

1. Look at the default gateway.


2. Open any internet browser
3. Copy the IP address found at the default gateway
4. Enter
5. Type the username (admin) and password (admin)
6. Enter
7. Find MAC filtering
8. Find the MAC address of your chosen device and copy it
9. Choose Permit / Prevent
10. Type / Paste the MAC address in the list
11. Save changes > Reboot now

COC 3: set up Computer Server ( 1.5 hours )

1. turn off DHCP


 Dis-able DHCP > save > reboot.
 Ipconfig /release > Ipconfig /renew
2. Static Server – Obtain Client
 Network settings ( ip address and preferred DNS should be the same)
 Click Validate
 Ipconfig /release > Ipconfig /renew
3. dcpromo
 Start > dcpromo > click Next > Choose Create a new domain in a new existing forest >
type the domain name (ex. Css.com ) > click the forest function level: Windows Server
2008 R2 >Next > type the wanted password ( admin123 ) > when the installation is
nearly complete, check the reboot on completion.
4. Server Manager
 Add roles
 DHCP, file services, remote desktop services, print and document services
 Next
 Finish
5. DHCP
 Start > admin tools > DHCP > list Domain > List IPv4 > delete the old scope > Create
New scope > set up the New scope > type your designated IP Address with or without
exclusion.

6. OU and Users
 Start > admin tools > A.D.U.C > create OU in the domain
 Domain user and Admin user ( copy administrator account and drag to your OU)
7. Folder Redirection
 Create a folder in Drive c: and share it to everyone with full permission
 Right click the folder > properties> sharing> advance sharing > check share this folder
> permissions > Check full control> then Apply and Ok.
 GPM > OU > right click > create new GPO > right click > edit > user configuration >
policies > windows settings > Folder redirection > choose any floder to redirect in the
server > properties > settings > Choose: Basic – redirect everyone’s folder to the same
location > type the computer name ( \\comp. name\folder’s name) > then OK.
8. Printer Deployment
 GPM > OU> right click > create a new GPO > printer deployment > print management >
create port (standard) > create printer > deploy with GPO.
9. Switch user in Server
 Switch user > log in Admin use> create folder “ADMIN” ( Admin account = Full control,
Domain user = read only) and “DOMAIN” ( Domain user = Full control , Admin User =
read only) > go to share and storage > admin folder > properties > NTFS permission >
remove everyone > add domain and admin user ( admin user = Full control, domain
user = read only) > Domain folder >properties > NTFS permission > remove everyone >
add domain and admin user ( admin user = write = deny ; domain user = full control ).
10. Joining
 In client PC > preferred DNS > Cmd > Ipconfig /release and /renew > computer > right
click > properties > Change setting > select Domain > type the domain in the server
(ex. Css.com ) > ok > restart > Switch user> log-in to user domain user> test the folder
sharing.
11. Remote desktop
 Start > Remote Desktop > select allow remote access to your computer > then check
allow connections from computers any version of Remote Desktop > apply then ok
 Start > type Remote desktop >type IP Address
12. Demote
 Dcpromo >Delete domain
 Share and Store > stop sharing
 Server Manager > Remove all Roles

COC 4 : Backup and Restore Files ( 1 hour )

1. Start
2. Type Backup and Restoration
3. Click Set up Backup
4. Choose Any Drive (USB)
5. Next

6. Click Let Me Choose


7. Find the Folder of Music or Files to back up ( or what the assessor ask )
8. Check the Music Library ( or the file that the assessor ask)
9. Then save settings
10. Click Back up now
11. Finish
