Preschool Practicum

Philosophy Statement
My philosophy of early childhood education is to focus on what each child
needs for them to achieve the milestones that they are learning. Meeting each
child where they are at individually and as a group.
I value that preschool children are eager to learn new things every day. They
come into the room ready to play, learn, challenge you, and learn to care about
those around them.
I believe to nurture the growth and development of children it is important
that teachers and children develop a mutual respect and trust for each other.
Teachers need help children learn to express their feelings and solve problems.
Teachers should know the stages of development, listen to children, encourage
their needs and help them have a positive self-esteem.
Important practices in my early childhood classroom and program include
providing a safe, fun and loving place for children to grow and learn. Having
equipment and toys that are developmentally appropriate. Lessons that are fun
and educational and meet the needs of each child.
My goals for children 3-5 years of age are to provide a safe and healthy
environment for children to grow and learn. Build a child’s self-esteem and help
them to grow physically, academically and socially.
My goals for families are to be a partner with them in raising their child. Work
together through the positive and difficult times. I would like to provide guidance
and help when needed.
