Updates!
I have very exciting news: I have been commissioned to write a score for Mary Pickford’s 1925 silent film
“Little Annie Rooney”! The movie is 95 minutes long and my score will be completed at the end of 2014.

However, before my score is premiered, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be premiering
its newly­restored version of the film at LACMA on November 3rd at 7:30pm, and I will be improvising a
score to the film on the piano. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for students. You can purchase

Lil Tyke
Lil Tyke by Andy Gladbach

These are selections from a score I wrote for another student short film this spring, titled Lil Tyke. The film,
about a dog who helps burglars steal from the homes in its neighborhood, is darkly comic, and required a
score that brought out the mischievous elements of the story and the frantic energy of the characters.

These are selections from a score I wrote for a student short film this spring called I Can’t Tell. The story
contains elements of comedy and drama, but wouldn’t have worked if the score had distracted from the story,
so I wrote subtle music for piano and strings up until the end credits.

Music for Necessary Targets by Andy Gladbach

The selections here were written for Pepperdine’s 2014 production of Necessary Targets, directed by Marya
Mazor. The play is about the lives of Bosnian War refugees, so it was important for the music to reflect their
desolate and damaged environment, where there was virtually no music for them to enjoy. I worked closely
with sound designer Matt Davis, using a series of drones and sound effects to create the bleak atmosphere
required for the play.

Upcoming Performances
Regular visitors to this site (i.e. my mom) may have noticed that I haven’t updated it in a while, and the
reason is that I’ve been extremely busy! But a lot of my work will be culminating in April:

I will be performing Rhapsody in Blue with the Pepperdine University Orchestra at 7:30 on Thursday, April
10 as part of the Pepperdine Orchestra and Choir Masterworks Concert. Tickets are $10. You can purchase
tickets and get more information about the event here.

I have also been part of a very exciting project with the Mary Pickford Foundation, which
commissioned me and two other student composers at Pepperdine to write scores for a
chamber ensemble (in which I am also playing piano) that will become a part of three silent
short films starring Mary Pickford. These scores will be premiered on Saturday, April 12, and
the event is FREE! More information can be found here.

bench. Also, I tried a bunch of angles so that you could see my hands on the keys but not too much of the
surroundings. Problem is you get a lot of my elbow. But you’re not watching this for its visual qualities, are
